Overview:
To strengthen and lead its Operations Unit, EGPAF in Tanzania is looking to recruit a results-oriented and motivated organizational leader to work as the Director of Operations based in Dar es Salaam. This is a senior management position reporting to the Country Director and serving as part of the Senior Management Team. The position ensures high-quality and timely operational support is provided to our programs, identifies and manages key risks, and builds teamwork and a collegial and integrated approach, fostering links between Operations and the programmatic functions within and between offices in Maputo and in the provinces. In addition, the incumbent also interacts routinely with senior headquarters staff in Washington, DC.
Job Responsibilities:
•Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the country program Operations function, including overall vision and direction, and managing and contributing to the work of HR, Accounting/Finance, IT, Procurement, Logistics, Administration, Contracts & Grants, and field offices.
•Duties will be wide ranging and include strategic business planning; performance management of assigned staff and development of key functions; leadership and mentoring of the operations team; assisting with preparation of budgets, monitor and ensure timely reporting on expenditures; and facilitate audits and compliance reviews.
•Ensure that the country program is supported by an efficient and effective operations platform.
•Ensure that a strong culture of compliance is maintained in order to comply with legal requirements and organizational/donor policies and procedures.
•Ensure that program support functions are reviewed and improved where necessary, and that the operations function is adequately equipped and staffed to proactively support the growth and development of the country program and its various projects and activities.
•Influence innovative approaches to Operations management in order to achieve organizational effectiveness and create efficiencies that reduce cost per unit of service.
•Serve as the senior point of contact for all operational matters.

Required Qualifications
•Advanced degree in business administration, finance/accounting, human resources, or any other relevant field.
•Minimum of 8 years senior leadership experience in a similar role, preferably with a multi-national non-governmental organization.
•Proven track record in operations leadership.
•Experience working in international environment, specifically Africa.
•Excellent ability to speak/read/write in Portuguese.
