Purchasing Coordinator

The School of St Jude is a charity funded school that provides a quality FREE education to approximately 1,600 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. Additionally, the school now provides employment to over 400 Tanzanians and purchases the essential goods required to run the school everyday from local people. The ripple effect is incredibly wide spread.

We are seeking an individualto join our Operations Team as the Purchasing Coordinator, based in Arusha, Tanzania. The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for purchasing of all supplies for the day-to-day requirements of the school, across all 3 campuses. Food is one of the priorities and requires someone who has a mature, firm and can-do manner to negotiate and deal with Tanzanians at food markets and with suppliers.

A minimum commitment of 12 months is required

Key Responsibilities:

• Purchasing food and supplies at various locations around Arusha on a daily basis for all campuses
• General shopping as required for other Departments of the School
• Sourcing competitive suppliers based on quality, price and efficiency for all sections of the school
• Miscellaneous errands around town to pay bills collect post, etc…
• Sourcing new suppliers and comparing prices
• Accurate accounts reconciliations on a daily basis

Knowledge, skills & attributes

• Strong communication and negotiation skills both oral and written
• Proficient in use of MS Word and Excel
• Good team player while having the capacity to work independently and efficiently
• Ability to work well under pressure and to react with common-sense and urgency if required, to solve purchasing problems
• Must have patience and tolerance
• Fit and Healthy
• Excellent time management skills

Living Allowance:
