CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

7.1 Principal duties and responsibilities

• Heads the Accounts Section;

• Ensures that payrolls and statutory reductions and liaise with Tax Authority on filling return on income;
• Keeps a register of fixed assets;

• Prepares annual accounts for audits;

• Responds to audit queries and management letters;

• Ensures receipt of revenue due to the Corporation;

• Carries out stocktaking and prepares report;

• Develops individual objectives/targets and performance standards as part of the individual performance agreement in consultation with the immediate superior; and

• Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

7.2 Professional Qualifications and Experience

Holder of MBA with CPA (T) or equivalent with at least 9 years post qualifying experience 4 of which must have been in a senior position. Must be registered as Authorized Accountant with National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA). Possession of computer application skills in various accounting computer package’s is a must. Well versed with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

7.3 Competence among others are:-

• Ability to communicate with excellent writing skills;

• Ability to supervise and direct multifunctional professionals;

• Strong working knowledge of computer programs mainly Microsoft word, Excel, and Accounting Package’s.

7.4 Remuneration

According to STAMICO schemes of service in the salary scale of STAMICO - Salary Scale SMC 9.
