Position Summary
To formulate quality standards of Tourism Services and ensure that implementation of tourism activities are in line with National Tourism Policy. The Incumbent will also be responsible for coordinatingTANAPA participation in international Tourism and establish international partnerships for improving visitation.
Reporting toDirector General,
The key responsibilities will include:
Ensuring that TANAPA tourism activities are in line with the National Tourism Policy and are consistently implemented; Formulating, establishing and ensuring implementation of quality standards of services to all national parks visitors; Ensuring the preparation and implementation of a tourism marketing plan;
Ensuring improved tourists’ visitation and activities by co-ordination of TANAPA's participation in national and international tourism shows;
Informing tour operators and hotel service providers on changing of tariffs and fees in advance and sensitize them on the need for changes;
Designing new products/services that are compatible with preservation of Parks resources; Setting standards and monitor their implementation;
Advising timely preparation of information materials for promoting the Tourism sector; Ensuring adequate training for tourism and marketing staff as appropriate;
Ensuring that marketing studies are carried out within and outside the country; ensuring participation in international tourism shows;
Ensure the development of internal tourism market;
Establishing collaboration with conservation organisation outside Tanzania for the purpose of improving visitation;
Collaborating with other wildlife institutions to share visitor's experiences in terms of needs;
Monitoring fee structure in neighboring countries and set user fees that are competitive, in order to attract visitors to Tanzania Parks;
Exploiting all tourism income-generating opportunities and prepare project proposals in collaboration with the planning department (Investment);
Conducting performance appraisal for the staff in Tourism & Marketing Directorate;
Performing any other duties related duties as maybe assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Master's Degree in Tourism Management or Business 'Administration (marketing) or equivalent qualifications in management.
Qualifications in Wildlife Science or Environmental Conservation or in Natural Resources Management will be an added advantage
Ten (10) years of working experience with a reputable organizations in related field, five (5) of which should be at senior managerial level
Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop team work
Must be proficient in MS applications
