Marine Officer I - Coxswain / Navigator

Marine Officer I - Coxswain / Navigator
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safe Maneuvering of the vessel.
• Ensuring the boat is manned adequately during operations and at silent hours.
• In charge of the boat’s husbandry.
• Reporting of all seamanship and navigational equipment defects to the Captain.
• Presentation of all seamanship and navigational equipment defects to the captain.
• Passage planning and charting of navigational routes.
• Ensuring adequate stocking of detergents, cleaning and painting materials onboard.
• Keeping of all vessel records.
• Charting of navigational routes.
• In-charge of watch and station bills.
• Conducting training and drill on board.
• Supervision of the crew.
• Any other relevant duties assigned.

Requirements for appointment
 

Academic and professional qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine/Nautical studies from a recognized University.
• Professional qualification in the relevant field.
• Membership to a relevant professional body.
• Relevant practicing competence certificates.
• Must have worked for at least 3 years in a similar position in a large vessel.
