Senior Electrical Trainer
Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Training Superintendent we seek to appoint a Senior Electrical Trainer at our Bulyanhulu gold mining operation in Tanzania. The Senior Electrical Trainer will be responsible for the development, implementation, and training of all electrical, instrumentation and refrigeration equipment. He/ She will make courses available and accessible to as many people as possible via flexible delivery strategies.
The Senior Electrical Trainer will be responsible for developing employee skills, knowledge, and attitudes commensurate to the goals of the program and effectively using materials and equipment to meet goals in such a manner that each employee has the most opportunity for personal growth and advancement.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Prepares and develops training courses in the relevant trade area which includes the course outline, lesson plans, student hand outs, teacher’s presentation, training aids and evaluation documentation.
• Ensure best practices are used when delivering training courses.
• Ensure promotion pathways are developed and implemented.
• Provide ongoing guidance and development of training staff.
• Provide educational pathways that lead to international qualification.
• Involve relevant parties in the decision making process to indentify course requirements.
• Identify a range of evaluation strategies to accommodate individual needs.
• Ensure no promotion bottlenecks are caused by maintenance training.
• Maintain training records for BGM employees attending the MTC.
• Carry out production maintenance work both on surface and underground as required.
• Deliver, develop, revise and maintain training courses for the following trades:
i. Electrical
ii. Refrigeration and Air conditioning
iii. Process Control / Instrumentation
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Education Requirements:
• An Electrical Trade Certificate from a recognised training institution.
• A teaching qualification from a recognised training institution.
• Advanced Trade Certificate or Electrical Diploma.
Experience Requirements:
• Sound experience at Electrical Services Tradesman level.
• At least three years experience in a teaching position or as an on-the-job trainer.
• Experience on the installation and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems up to 8kW cooling capacity.
• Experience on calibration, repair and replacement of components in process control loops.
• Exposure to the challenges of operating in remote sites and in particular in developing countries.
• Knowledge of domestic and mining electrical installations.
• Knowledge of the international wiring rules to IEC standards.
• A strong personal commitment to implement electrical policies and procedures, with the ability to foster strong safety culture among electrical personnel.
• Ability to mentor and work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures and the willingness to share skills and knowledge with others.
• Excellent planning, organisation skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and the self-discipline to achieve tasks on time

Mine Captain - Development
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is looking to employ an experienced Mine Captain - Development. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organising, leading and controlling the operational underground mining team to ensure minimal operational deviations, people skills are optimised and that production targets are maximised within the defined operating criteria such as company policies, rules and standards, safety rules and regulations and all statutory requirements.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Implement approved production plans and safety criteria in accordance with required parameters, procedures and legal requirements to satisfy the criteria of effective operations, good employee relations, and effective administration of applicable systems
• Prepare (and operate within) annual and periodical mining budgets for operations and capital projects, reporting on cost variations as required
• Provide leadership, supervision, skills training and support for employees in accordance with departmental requirements and individual Progress and Development Plans
• Train Tanzanian employees, to develop and promote a safe and healthy work environment
• Provide effective on the job training and coaching to ensure all employees learn new skills and achieve their maximum potential.
• Participate in the development of yearly budget and long-term plans with technical services personnel
• Liaise with all relevant Subject Matter Experts and implement proper mining methods and safety practices in order to execute mining production, safety, mine layout, mining planning, operational labour management, and in-stope engineering maintenance
• Monitor section monthly cost performance relative to budget and implement adjustments
• Audit workplaces on regular intervals, provide written and verbal feedback to all relevant parties and enforce compliance with mining and safety standards
• Ensure appropriate stock levels
• Update mining plans and technical requirements
• Provide managerial, leadership, support and advice to section leaders to ensure section performs to and above budget expectations
• Advise training officers of performance discrepancies and facilitate training, career development, succession planning, and performance management of section personnel
• Identify Capital projects which can add value to the business, and then support the implementation of such projects to ensure successful improvements.

• Mine Overseer certificate for scheduled mines
• Valid blasting certificate from a recognised training institution
Experience Requirements:
• Detail knowledge of underground mining operations
• Detail knowledge of the application of safety standards, mining regulations and acts as well as ground safety and ventilation controls
• Exposure to mining regulations in developing countries
• Exposure in leading a group of multi-national employees
• Detail knowledge of ground support, ventilation
• 15 years experience in Trackless Mining including decline sinking is required
• Sound knowledge of daily plotting activities
• Previous Expat work would be advantageous

Shift Boss
Description
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ a Waste Development Trainer/ Shift Boss. The successful incumbent will provide leadership and direction to the operational mining team to ensure compliance with safety, environment and security standards, and optimize safe production at minimum cost. This position reports to the Mine Captain and will be on a rotational basis of 6 weeks on and3 weeks off.

• Lead the shift personnel to work safely at all times, and develop and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Ensure all personnel are aware of BGML safety and environmental policies and procedures, and ensure compliance at all times.
