Role Purpose:
Overall management and co-ordination of Finance and HR teams in the greater Wajir field offices. Lead the development and performance management of HR & Admin, and Finance teams.
Responsible for effective financial and risk management, and financial accountability in the programme and ensure the provision of quality business support in Finance and HR in the field office programme.

Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since 1984, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners.
Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH.
Save the Children has an operational presence in Dadaab Refugee Camp, Eldoret, Habaswein, Mandera, Meru and Wajir.
Currently, we have a staff complement of approximately 370 staff and expenditure of approximately US$30 million this year.

Key Areas Of Accountability:
- Effective management and co-ordination of HR and Finance teams in Wajir East and Wajir South
- Responsible for the effective development and performance management of the HR and Finance teams.
- Ensure compliance with all legal obligations of the programme including contracts, accounting, contracts, payroll, etc.
- Work with the Roving Finance Officer to ensure systems are in place and be accountable for the effective financial and risk management, asset management and financial accountability in the programme.
- Responsible for all Programme Support Services in the field office programme effectively managing communications with suppliers, information flow and management information, ensuring appropriate use of information technology based systems.
- In liaison with the Area Programme Manager, review and revise budgets; authorising and monitoring expenditure in line with the budget and donor guidelines, SC grant management and financial guidelines
- Contribute to proposal development process
- Ensure policies and procedures in Finance and HR are implemented and adhered to.
- Provide updates on the different departments to the Area Programme Manager and participate in the area SMT meetings.

Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor of Arts degree in management with experience in both Finance, HR and Administration
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the INGO sector
- Ability to operate and think strategically and able to produce creative and pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
- Expertise in the application of strategic HR & financial management and experience in maximizing use of resources
- Ability to influence and support colleagues in appreciating the importance of standards, procedures and controls
- Leadership qualities and people management expertise to provide direction and effective support to a multi-disciplinary team
- Successful track record of consistent personal achievement at both an operational and strategic level
- Stature and personal credibility to work as a senior member of the management team.
