Uraia Trust was established in 2011 as a successor organization to Kenya’s National Civic Education Programme, which ran in Kenya from January 2000 to June 2011 (NCEP Phases I & II).
Its focus is to contribute to the progress of Kenya through the development of its most important resource, the RAIA.
Uraia’s approach is to promote citizenship from a “rights and responsibility” aspect.
Uraia Trust is seeking to recruit a dynamic and result oriented individual for the position of Institutional Transformation Manager.
The jobholder will be responsible for efficient and effective delivery of the Uraia Institutional transformation programme activities which entail research, learning, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization and sustainability, rapid response initiatives, capacity building and training and gender advocacy.
The key responsibilities of this position will include:
- Develop and implement the institutional transformation strategy and focus in consultation with Uraia Senior Management Team and provide leadership on day to day management of the Uraia Institutional Transformation Unit.
- Ensure efficient and effective capacity building and training activities to support the institutional transformation initiatives of Uraia Trust. In addition plan and participate in implementing post capacity assessment training support programmes for implementing partners.
- Undertake and/ or facilitate research necessary to ensure the undertaking of evidence led interventions by Uraia. In addition to ensure meaningful cooperation and partnership with the leading research institutions on democratic, governance and leadership, human rights and constitutional matters amongst other areas of interest by Uraia.
- Advice on branding and marketing of Uraia (development of communication and promotion activities, website and online material development in support of programme delivery etc.).
- Take a lead in implementation of the Uraia Trust gender advocacy initiatives in liaison with the Head of Programmes.
- Ensure the innovative and effective use of information technology in support of Uraia Institutional transformation programme activities.
- Provide support in development of work plans, programming and budget review for programme activities.
- Undertake the learning, monitoring and evaluation activities of Uraia in liaison with the head of programmes.
- Support in the resource mobilization and sustainability initiatives of Uraia Trust.
Any other duty as may be assigned by Head of Programmes
Person Specifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- A Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Economics or Development studies from a reputable institution;
- A Masters degree in Management, Business Administration or Social Sciences is desirable;
- At least 5 years’ experience in delivering programme related development projects, 3 of which must be at management level;
- Experience in leading monitoring and evaluation programs is an added advantage; and
- Programme and project management skills, resource mobilization skills and financial management skills.
The engagement for this position will be for an initial contract of three years that is renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
