Using the IFs model the project will undertake analysis of previous trends, current developments and future developments in agriculture, demographics, economics, education, energy, environment, health, climate change and socio-political characteristics and sectors. The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of project management at the Institute, engage at senior with regional organizations, conduct desktop and primary research, manage commissioned researchers, facilitate meetings, manage the associated website and general activities as well as assist in developing new project proposals including fundraising.
This is a hugely exciting project with considerable scope for future development of opportunities at a time of a changing global environment.
Requirements:
At least a Masters degree in economics, political science, international relations or sociology, PhD preferable
At least 5 years’ experience with quantitative analysis, modelling, systems, development, policy, statistics
Dynamic, hardworking, flexible individual with a keen interest in African issues
Experience in project management, including management of budgets, reporting and staff management
Proven ability of working at senior level with governments and research institutes
Previous exposure to scenario development/long term forecasting would be advantageous
Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
The ability to present and package information in different formats including op-eds, research papers, websites and social media
Strong research, analytical and computer skills
Competency in French and/or Portuguese is an advantage
Be willing to undertake considerable travel
