Director of Creative Design

The Director of Creative Design is a position requiring the employee to live and work in Uganda. We ask the applicant is willing to make a year commitment. If hired, employee is desired to begin position at the beginning of 2012 (start time is negotiable). Contract will extend for a full year. Employee will receive housing, transportation, and a living stipend to cover food, personal transport, and other personal activities.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience living, working, or volunteering abroad. They will have knowledge about the 31 Bits Designs organization and be passionate about our mission and vision.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Design.

The Director of Creative Design will be working hand-in-hand with our 31 Bits Creative Design Manager and International/Design Director to create new designs and samples. Their job will be to design and create jewelry for the three 31 Bits lines per year. Director of Creative Design will also be meeting with International/Design Director bi-week via Skype discussing new designs, samples, colors, production, etc.

2. Main tasks will include:

- Conveying and overseeing production of new samples

- Collecting supplies (from Kampala) for production

- Designing and creating 6 product lines yearly (3 for online store, 3 for boutiques)

- Working with 31 Bits Designs Beneficiaries to improve quality and conduct trainings.

- Stocking Design Manger’s office with needed supplies

- Shipping of products

3. Other Duties include:

- Meeting weekly with Program Leadership Team

- Documenting all money spent on business expenses

- Meeting bi-weekly with International/Designs Director
