1. CUSTOMER SERVICE ENGINEER (1 POST) – JOB REF.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To ensure customer satisfaction by
maintaining reliable and high quality power supply to customers.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•
To make
sure that, safety rules and regulations, electricity and factory ordinance are
well known and adhered to all your staff.
•
To
assist on accessing the distribution network condition during the annual
distribution network condition audit exercise.
•
Work
closely with Field staff to implement appropriate policies to manage work flow
and Communication.
•
Interact
with Customer Support, Sales, Marketing and Senior Management to continually
evaluate and improve the product support solutions channel and strategy.
•
Support
the implementation of the help desk tracking system, with recommendations for
continuous improvement from the system, process and end user perspectives.
•
Prepare timely, accurately and quality
technical and other reports.
• Manage all necessary activities for
successfully developing and managing client relationship for existing accounts.
•
Respond
to emergency conditions and assist in restoring the electrical distribution
system to normal operation.

SCADA
HARDWARE/SOFTWARE ENGINEERS (4 POSTS) –JOB REF. O2

JOB
OBJECTIVE:
To supervise, monitor, and control daily
distribution network while ensuring availability and delivery of reliable power
supply.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• To make sure that distribution network is
well controlled and monitored at optimal level to maintain reliable and high
quality electric supply.
• To make sure that, safety rules and
regulations, electricity and factory ordinance are well known and adhered to
all your staff.
• To assist in assessing the network
performance and formulation of short term and medium term distribution network
plans and design.
•
To
assist in simulation of the distribution network in real time using application
software incorporated in SCADA/POWER ON FUSION system, and to Support the
design proposals for the distribution associated projects.
•
To
consolidate statistics of expansion of various cities master plans and
distribution data required for planning and update the drawing and other
documents following the distribution expansion or alterations
•
To
reviews technical documentation, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and
specifications; and by conducting research to resolve design conflicts with
codes and standards.
•
To
assist in accessing the distribution network condition during the annual
distribution network condition audit exercise.
• To guide the restoration of distribution
power system in case of failure, gather disturbance information and prepare
relevant reports.
• To monitor Distribution System to ensure
that a continuous and reliable flow of electric power supply from the source to
various places of distribution destination and distribution points are
maintained.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

3. TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEER (1 POST) – JOB REF. 03

To: Principal Telecommunication Engineer

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for
Monitoring the condition of all distribution communication network and
equipments and rectify any defects to ensure reliability and availability of
communication supply to the Distribution Control Centre.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Responsible for Distribution SCADA
activities including but not limited to administration, programming, database
administration and RTU input management.
•
Performs SCADA related needs assessments
and provides recommendations.
•
Oversees development of in-house
Distribution SCADA related programming
•
Assures adequate inventory of Distribution
SCADA related supplies.
•
Assures
proper installation, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of Distribution SCADA
systems, as well as associated computer hardware and software.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance
of all electronics and telecommunication equipment on the power network under
the respective distribution areas.
• Make inventories and prepare data base of
all activities of Company’s Telecommunication and DC systems.
•
Plan
and carry out preparations of test procedures, manuals and drawings of the
entire DC and communication network for distribution substations.
•
Prepare
specifications and requirements for all electronics and telecommunication
equipments.
•
Monitoring of DC systems for Telecom and
RTU equipments.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly
reports and ensure that they are submitted in time. Monthly reports shall
indicate actual respective expenditures.
• Ensure that all staff under you are
exposed to all equipment and are very conversant with the use of them.
•
Liaise
with Company safety office on compliance to safety regulations with regard to
staff and equipment.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in
Electronics and Telecommunication engineering from a recognized University of
College.

experience of at least two years in maintenance of electronics and Telecoms
equipments.

4. ELECTRICAL TECHNICIANS (4 POSTS) – JOB REF. 04

To: Operations Engineer
Reporting

POSITION
OBJECTIVE:
To supervise the shift operation team
while ensuring reliable and delivery of power to customers ensuring the
switching procedures/safety regulations are followed properly.
•
Continually
observes the functioning of station equipment in Control centre. Observes
switchboard instruments for unusual operating conditions and performs the
function necessary to restore the equipment to normal or remove it from service
as required.
•
Maintains
control centre equipment for proper operation i.e. computers, servers and
switching and developing switching orders (sequences) for distribution
electrical equipment in the respective substations or network in accordance
with the existing TANESCO guidelines /procedures.
•
Issue
permits to work, limitation of access, and sanction for test after proper
Isolation of equipment at switch yard and at site before people start working
to ensure highest safety standards are observed and maintained all the times in
order to preserve life and property.
•
Maintains
daily operating log on all operations by keeping a record of the time and
details of all operating carried out by him/her or under his/her instructions.
This includes the names of the person instructed to carry out such operations
on routine and emergency, and reports on line outages, weather conditions as
per DCC System requirement.
•
Checking
for compliance with prescribed operating limits in distribution lines and
equipment (load, voltage, temperature, etc.)
•
Ability
to acts independently during an emergency by performing duties in rapid
succession involving switching, adjusting load and/or voltage, or extinguishing
fires.
•
Issues
protective tags through established safe clearance procedures for all equipment
in the substation and power network as per DCC System requirement.
•
To
control and sanction the issuance and cancellation of Permits to work,
limitation of access sunction for test, hot line order and other related
documents in the respective substation or power line as per DCC System
requirement.
•
To make
sure that communication facilities in the control centre are in good working
conditions.
•
Maintain
close liaison with Grid Control Centre (GCC), Generating plants stations and
other grid substation Operators to ensure smooth restoration of power supply in
case of System power failure.
•
Performs sub-dispatching functions as
required.
•
Ensure Occupations, Health and Safety
(OHS) Policy are adhered to.
•
Diploma/Full Technician Certificate in
Electrical/Telecommunication Engineering
•
Experience of at least 3 years in relevant
field especially in switching.
5. SHIFT OPERATORS (10 POSTS) – JOB REF. 05

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
DCC System monitoring to ensure that a
continuous and reliable flow of electric power supply from transmission points
to various places of distribution points are maintained.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•
Collect
all necessary initial technical data in the daily log sheets and defect
register book.
• To maintain continuity and security of
primary and secondary supplies at control centre.
•
To
maintain DCC operation management, and make follow up of system voltage so that
in case of variance it should be within acceptable operation limits
• To maintain proper communication and
carryout proper switching to feeders, equipment and lines .
•
To
maintain proper records and coordinate with the National Grid Control Centre of
any interruptions and restoration of supply.
•
To
control and sanction the issuance and cancellation of Permits to work,
limitation of access and other related documents in the respective substation.
• To make sure that communication facilities
in the control centre are in good working conditions.
•
Report
to the Supervisor for any abnormal behaviour of system metering protection and
system control equipment.
• To performs switching operations in the
respective substations and power line in accordance with the existing TANESCO
guidelines /procedure and as per DCC System requirement.
•
To
promptly submit to the Supervisor all operations reports of the substations and
power line(distribution lines) (i.e. Daily after duty).
• Ensure proper recording and compilations
of power units received different generation/transmission points against
consumption units hourly.
• To perform other duties from time to time
as shall be delegated by the Operation Supervisor.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for provision of technical support and maintenance
of Distribution SCADA
Hardware, Large Wall Display (BARCO), DCSs and UPS including GCC Electrical Installation.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•
To
provide technical support and maintenance of Distributed Control System (DCS)
including gateways hardware and software.
• To provide technical support and
maintenance of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) which includes Chargers,
Inverters, Batteries and Standby generator.
•
To
provide technical support and maintenance of fire alarms system and DCC doors
security system.
• To ensure cleanness of SCADA workshop and
environment and adhere to safety rules and regulations when carrying out daily
works on the SCADA system.,
• To actively participate in commissioning
activities in installation of SCADA system facility under extension or upgrade
of grid network.
• To liaise with telecommunication
department to ensure acceptable data communication is always available.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
•
Diploma or FTC in Electrical, Electronics
or Computer Engineering
•
2-3 years’ experience post qualification
with exposure to Power System
