Lumwana Mining Company located in Zambia is wholly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines to be developed globally over the last decade. The mine is seeking an experienced and highly-motivated HR Superintendent to lead administrative function by providing coaching, guidance, training and support to HR team and their direct reports and the. The HR Superintendent will ensure consistency and best practice in relation to employee relations policies, practices and systems. The appointee will report to the HR Manager and will be responsible for the following duties and activities:
- Provide the leadership necessary to ensure positive and effective implementation of LMC’s OH&S policy and procedures, and overarching statutory requirements
- HR business partner for Lumwana site Offices, including: organisational design, performance management, talent management, employee relations, workforce planning, budgeting, remuneration, training, development, employee data management
- Establish collaborative relationships with functional leaders and provide HR support to assist with the achievement of business objectives and goals
- Monitor the human resources systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods
- Implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects
- Input into recruitment for Lumwana Expatriate and National roles.
- Monitor and maintain labour cost reporting
- Facilitate team interventions to support initiatives shaping culture, alignment, motivation and morale
· Ensure all members of the team have clearly defined accountabilities and roles and that individual development plans are in place to enable goals to be achieved.
· Design, develop and implement standard operating processes and procedures in conjunction with business and functional owners
· Review existing site policies and procedures and provide analysis and recommendation to the HR Manager as to integration, standardisation and change management planning
Skills & Abilities
The successful applicant must have the following qualifications/skills:
- A recognized Degree in Human Resources Management, Business / and or Post Graduate qualification desirable
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior site-based HR role or similar corporate HR role
- Experience working in large multicultural and diverse organizations/environments
- Strong background in Human Resources Management, general business acumen and the capacity to act as an internal consultant
- High level of problem solving and influencing skills
- Sound knowledge of contemporary HR Practice and compliance
- Effective management and communication skills
- Sound industrial relations knowledge
- Competent in the use of an integrated Human Resources Information System (such as Oracle), word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Demonstrated strong customer service focus
