PharmAccess is a young, fast-growing, international, not-for-profit organization of Dutch origin, which aims to improve access to affordable quality basic health care in Africa. PharmAccess strives to fulfill this mission through public-private partnerships with local organizations and through an output based approach.
PharmAccess supports programs and offers services in several areas, such as providing health insurance for low-income groups, quality improvement of clinics and hospitals, financing of small and medium sized enterprises and support of corporate and national healthcare programs.
PharmAccess was founded in 2001, and is currently active in more than 10 African countries. Its main office resides in Amsterdam. Other offices are established in Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia and Tanzania. The activities of PharmAccess are made possible by funding of donors and clients, such as the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), large multinationals and the Rockefeller Foundation.
As co-founder PharmAccess participated in the launching of the Health Insurance Fund, the Investment Fund for Health in Africa and the Medical Credit Fund. The latter was selected as a winner of the G-20 Finance Challenge at the G-20 summit in Seoul, Korea in November 2010.

Job description
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and operation of the KNCU Health Plan in Tanzania. The Program Coordinator will work closely together with supporting teams of professionals within PharmAccess. PharmAccess partners with insurance companies, third party administrators and marketing agencies to deliver customized health insurance programs to selected target groups in Tanzania. The Program Coordinator is the primary point of contact and key decision maker for the KNCU Health Plan.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
• Planning and coordination of activities under the KNCU Health Plan Moshi;
• Budgeting and forecasting of program activities;
• Manage the dedicated PharmAccess staff based at the Moshi office and collaborate closely with the KNCU health program staff;
• Prepare monthly progress reports for the HIF program manager Tanzania;
• Evaluate and monitor program performance;
• Identify program risks, steer and re-direct the program in collaboration with the Program Manager;
• Develop and maintain relationships with partners and stakeholders of the KNCU Health Plan Moshi;
• Expand the size of the existing program to the whole target population.
You report directly to the Program Manager Health Insurance Fund Tanzania.
Qualifications & Requirements
• A track record of at least 5 years documented experience in program management including financial management;
• Suitable candidates will ideally have a relevant Master’s degree or an MBA;
• Exposure to health insurance and/or other relevant health financing programs in Africa is an advantage;
• Sound financial management experience, including preparing and managing budgets;
• Proven and outstanding skills in analytical thinking and writing up resulting concepts, proposals and action plans;
• You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to effectively interact within an environment with multiple stakeholders and people originating from different cultures;
• You are flexible but persistent and result oriented;
• You know how to adapt to a dynamic, growing and developing organization;
• Your understanding of written and spoken English is excellent and you are proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
