owned by the City of Johannesburg. It is a R3bn turnover company employing ±2 400
people and its core purpose is to provide water and sanitation services to

Manager: Fixed Assets and Insurance
(Ref. MFAI/2011)
The incumbent will ensure the Fixed Asset Register is in compliance with the MFMA, GRAP
and National Treasury Guidelines.
Key responsibilities: * Manage the development and maintenance of complex Fixed Asset
Models on Excel to support any changes in scenarios/legislation for possible input into the
Fixed Asset Register on SAP and reconciliations thereto * Develop controls and processes for
the alignment of the accounting register to the technical register, in conjunction with CAPEX
* Perform the annual fixed asset verification exercise and execute the associated adjustments
on the register * Manage insurance, including declarations for the entity and manage the
insurance claims process together with the insurer * Be assigned with project work to deliver
additional outputs, as may be required in terms of the requirements of the Finance Division
* Compile, update, maintain and apply Johannesburg Water's policy for the management of
fixed assets.
Requirements and experience: * BCom (Accounting) or equivalent l 5 years' experience as a
manager in a related field, preferably in conjunction with experience in/exposure to fixed
assets and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register within a large organisation/municipal
environment * Excellent understanding and application of the various accounting standards
with specific reference to the standards on Property Plant and Equipment, Intangible Assets
and Revenue from Non-exchange Transactions * Overall understanding of GRAP, MFMA and
National Treasury requirements * Sound understanding of insurance and insurance claims
procedures would be an advantage.
