This is a Boston-based, three-year research position in the CGHD that will also carry a faculty appointment at BUSPH at the level of assistant or associate professor, with the potential for renewal depending on the availability of funding and performance.
The CGHD is a university-wide applied research center at Boston University and is administratively housed within the BU School of Public Health. Its core staff, who have expertise in clinical medicine, public health, demography, anthropology, and economics, devote most of their time to collaborative research projects funded by international donors. Core researchers of the CGHD hold appointments in the BUSPH and have the opportunity to teach in the Department of International Health and in other departments as research commitments and course needs allow. The CGHD’s mission encompasses a range of issues in international health and development.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in research work with other faculty as appropriate, to generate new research ideas in their area of expertise, and to pursue funding opportunities. The Pediatrician is also expected to contribute to existing CGHD applied research projects. It is anticipated that the specialist will develop a substantial externally funded research program during the initial three year appointment. Depending on the candidate’s skills and interests and the needs of the BUSPH, time may be devoted to teaching or other academic activities. All core researchers of the CGHD are also expected to contribute to the development of the CGHD itself and to participate in departmental and school-wide activities as needed.
Requirements:
•M.D. in Pediatrics and a thorough understanding of clinical research.
•Expertise in child survival issues and/or field epidemiology.
•Demonstrated background of substantive involvement in clinical or applied health systems research, in the developing world setting, and/or experience providing technical advice on clinical research in developing countries.

•Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new projects.
•Demonstrated leadership and management ability
•Experience living and/or working in developing countries.
•An ability and desire to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary group of colleagues
Interested candidates should send cover letter and Curriculum Vitae to Emily Morin, Department of International Health, Boston University School of Public Health, Crosstown Center, 801 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd Floor, Boston, MA, 02118.
