The New Forests Company (N.F.C) is a UK-based sustainable and socially responsible forestry company with established, rapidly growing plantations and the prospect of a diversified product base for local and regional export markets. Operations started in Tanzania in October 2009. An administrative office is operational in Iringa from where the establishment of the Lukosi Plantation and Pole plant at Lundamatwe village 16 KMs from Iringa town in the Kilolo district is overseen. The company seeks to appoint resourceful, energetic, dynamic and self-driven individuals to fill the following vacancies with immediate effect.

TECHNICAL FORESTER -1
Position Purpose
To manage the member of technical team; collect and summarize mensuration and research data; collect GPS data for mapping purpose

Reporting
The position is reporting to the Plantation Manager and Planning Department on regular basis

Duties
Collecting, recording and manipulation of mensuration data
Conducting enumeration exercises for Poles harvesting
Collecting and recording PSP management and data collection
Manage thinning controls and marking for thinning
Implement research trials, PSP’s management and data collections for planning harvesting and carbon studies
Collecting, recording and interpreting GPS coordinates and spatial data
Leading and managing multiple technical teams
Road establishment planning and pegging out
Advising and liaison with Operational field staff

Qualification for the post
BSc Forestry from a recognized higher learning institution with two years of hands on experience
Skills, knowledge and competencies required
Practical knowledge in Forestry operation specifically in silviculture and FSC
Knowledge and experience in forestry planning specifically in Mensuration, growth and yield, mapping and research trials
Ability to demonstrate people and financial management
Report writing skills
Data interpretation skills
