Senior Technical Advisor - Mobile Maintenance Zambia

Lumwana Mining Company is wholly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines to be developed globally over the last decade.

The mine is seeking innovative and self-motivated Senior Technical Advisors (03) for Mobile Maintenance to join and support the maintenance department activities and oversee employee training and development. Develop and manage departmental tactical plans. The appointees will report to the Maintenance Coordinator and will be responsible for the following duties and activities:

• Promotion of all Barrick Lumwana site safety policies and participate in implementing
• Preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules regularly and ore processing priorities
• Ensuring timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment
• Support and train employees in maintenance procedures and processes
• Ability to interpret data for maintenance planning and scheduling, inventory management and operational decision making.
• Contribute to the delivery of business outcomes by ensuring the development of maintenance plans and schedules to maximize operational efficiency and minimise mining equipment and mill downtime and costs
• Support environmental programmes and providing reports on all observed environmental incidents and non-compliances
• Develop and promote a quality customer service to all departments within the mine
• Monitor all maintenance activities to eliminate wasteful practices and meet agreed targets

Skills & Abilities

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications/skills:

• Trade or technical certificate level qualification
• Experience in large open cut mining operations
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in a mine and mineral processing maintenance supervisory role
• Good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suit, dBase, word processing, spreadsheet and CMMS (Pronto)
• Strong communication skills in English language
• Excellent knowledge of mining and milling operations
• A sound knowledge of cost control
