One of the most recent additions to the Exploration group is the projects located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an exciting opportunity in Copper exploration. The team is now seeking an experienced District Geologist, based at Jabal Sayid.

Position Overview:

The primary role of the District Geologist Saudi Arabia is to lead the exploration programme at Jabal Sayid and coordinate the technical specialists assisting the Jabal Sayid Exploration group resulting in discovery and delineation of economically viable mineral deposits at Jabal Sayid and surrounding region that will have a significant impact on the Company’s earnings and growth.

Key responsibilities include:

· Manage exploration teams at Jabal Sayid and other Saudi Arabia exploration projects

· Leading the near mine and camp scale targeting programs at Jabal Sayid, adding new targets to the pipeline

· Assist with the regional exploration programs in Saudi Arabia

· Ensure exploration programmes are managed in line with objectives are consistent and in line with Barrick strategic needs and goals

· Contribute to the development and ongoing modification of systems and procedures to ensure all Jabal Sayid geological functions are carried out safely and productively.

· Manage the preparation of project programs / schedules and effectively maintain the schedules

· Assist Exploration Manager in compilation of quarterly and monthly reports and statutory reporting

· Maintain ongoing communication with mine staff and coordinate exploration activity with MinEx programmes and mining activity where appropriate

· Supervise external contractors and ensure activities are in compliance with Barrick safety and environmental standards.

· Monitor the development and training of all geological and field personnel, performing annual performance appraisals and partaking in talent review processes.

· Ensure technical and statutory reporting is completed and forwarded to Barrick and Saudi Arabia government agencies in timely manner

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

· Bachelor of Science (Geology), advanced degree preferred

· Minimum 15 years relevant experience in exploration and mining, including 5 years in a senior management capacity

· International exploration experience including significant work on VMS deposits

· Advanced understanding of economic parameters of mining operations

· Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment

· Excellent communication and administration skills.

· Self motivation, leadership and management skills.

· Advanced geological interpretive skills

· Understanding and recognition of mineralisation models and geological processes
