The Senior Community Access Associate position in the West-South Africa Regional Support Team (RST) reports to the Regional Manager and provides technical support to implementation and monitoring of community access planned activities, in partnership with In-Country team members and in accordance with global Ipas guidance and quality standards; encouraging teamwork to meet overall country objectives. The position works to strategically design, implement, administer and evaluate training and community access projects/programs at the community level in accordance with agency standards, including: budget and financial management; development and administration of contracts and grants; ensure use of existing systems for tracking community access intervention outcomes; provides regular review of monitoring data to inform programmatic changes and timely correction of deficiencies at both country and regional level. The position writes and reports, as needed, on the country programs. The position seeks additional technical support, as negotiated, from the Global Units and shares knowledge about activities to ensure the movement in both directions of innovation, needs, refinements, and lessons learned. |
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP - Builds technical capacity to implement Community Access strategies to increase access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information and care such as harm reduction, social networking and increasing MA through pharmacies
- Contributes to country and regional program design, proposal development, and reports to ensure core community access program components are represented
- Builds the capacity of in-country staff, consultants and the agency in technical content areas
- Disseminates agency training and community access improvement program outcomes and approaches
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: - Provides technical assistance to project design and the application of community access approaches and models to country programs and other units within the agency and partner organizations
- Supplies technical inputs to in-country programs on strategic program and event planning, design, implementation and evaluation
- Reviews and provides inputs on country-adapted training, educational materials and guidelines to ensure consistency with agency standards and ensures Clinical Affairs review of clinically-related information and recommendations
- Provides technical assistance and review of curriculum adaptation to meet particular program needs
- Ensures effective training methodologies in Ipas curricula and community access programs and with trainers
- Provides technical assistance to training activities on MA in the community and co-facilitates training events as needed
- Provides training for activities to increase knowledge, skills and abilities of women and community members on SRHR including working with community based organizations, conducting assessments or research on what barriers women may face in exercising their SRHR, and helping to evaluate community based interventions
- Supports development of woman-centered IEC/BCC materials with a focus on low-literacy women
- Builds technical capacity to implement strategies to reduce barriers – such as stigma – at the community level including conducting research and/or analyzing existing research on topics, and assisting in the design of stigma reduction and other interventions
- Provides inputs on technical staffing and consultant decisions; support hiring of community access consultants, based on availability of resources
- Builds capacity of individual staff and teams to increase knowledge and capabilities in community access strategies and interventions
- Ensures the expansion of access to high quality abortion care at the community level and other related RH activities
PROJECT SUPPORT AND MONITORING: - Supports the implementation of community access monitoring and evaluation activities including the development of indicators, conceptual models, data analysis, writing and reporting on results
- Provides technical assistance in implementing Ipas’ standard procedures for trainee monitoring
- Reviews quarterly monitoring results to identify gaps in performance and needed improvements
- Ensures entry of country level community access activities into the GEM reporting system and tracks progress in achieving targets
- Coordinates with other members of the Regional Support Team to mutually support achievement of results of stigma reduction and other community access interventions
- Seeks input for continually improving community access results
WRITING AND REPORTING: - Participates in donor processes including report/proposal writing and fundraising
- Works with appropriate staff to develop and write donor and other activity reports
- Summarizes and presents technical activities, research and evaluation findings and results to share best practices
- Makes presentations on Ipas community access accomplishments; including information for donor documents
- Supports knowledge sharing activities to ensure the movement between country/regional work, Global Output Units and across the organization of innovation, needs, refinements, and lessons learned
