Host/Manager for the AMT Secretariat African Microfinance Transparency Forum

AMT is a network based association and currently has 47 MFI members from 22 African countries as well as the 4 specialized rating agencies active on the continent. Launched as a pilot project in 2001, the African Microfinance Transparency Forum (AMT) became a legally constituted organization in 2008. Registered in South Africa, AMT promotes transparency and strengthens the performance of African MFIs in order to improve their efficiency in terms of poverty alleviation. AMT is currently coordinated by ADA, Luxembourg who will be overseeing the transfer of the secretariat to the newly appointed coordinator.

About the Job:
The African Microfinance Transparency Forum is seeking to relocate its secretariat to the African continent in 2011. To that end, it is inviting organizations, associations or other institutions based in Africa to apply to host, and/or manage the AMT Secretariat.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Managing the affairs of AMT and conduct day to day management and administrational duties (includes preparing contracts, organizing and drafting of documentation including sector studies, promotional documents, call for tenders, meeting minutes etc.);
* Preparing and proposing the budget and activity plan;
* Managing AMT finances;
* Fund-raising (part of AMT’s funding comes from ADA, Luxembourg but the outstanding amount needs to be mobilized on an annual basis);
* Implement the activities and other Board decisions;
* Organize various meetings and events (Board meetings, annual General Assembly of Members, annual investor’s fair, workshops, member trainings etc.);
* Keeping, filing and archiving all documentation pertaining to AMT;
* Report to the Board at least quarterly on the activities planned and achieved, as well as on the management accounts (income & expenses and cash flows);
* Representing AMT to any third parties.

Qualifications:

* Sound knowledge of the microfinance industry in Africa;
* Work related experience in managing either networks or development projects;
* Experience in the domain of microfinance ratings and transparency would be considered an advantage;
* Previous experience in project fund raising;
* Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and complete projects by deadline;
* Excellent communication skills, especially writing and editing;
* Experience in organizing and managing events is a plus;
* Capable of working fluently in both English and French (essential);
* Must be proficient in Windows based software;
* Available to travel several times a year;
* Be driven by the goal of poverty alleviation.
