Camp Management Capacity Building Officer
The CMCBO shall be responsible to and report directly to the LWF/DWS Dadaab Project Coordinator or the person designated by him/her. This is a senior position, which requires effective diplomacy analytical, facilitation and both inter/intra personal communication skills.
The person should also posses highly developed representational, management and
reporting and documentation skills.
The person will be responsible to build the capacity of staff conducting trainings and also to coordinate camp management activities across the 3 camps and to ensure standards, quality and accountability in implementing the sector activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Train LWF staff on Adult Education, Active Pedagogical Methods, training tools and techniques, curriculum development, etc.
- Mainstream components of CBPS (Community Based psychosocial support)
- Participating in the drafting proposals and budgets for new projects in accordance with LWF defined role in Dadaab and donor guidelines and standards
- Responsible for ensuring the proper implementation of funded activities in accordance with approved time schedules, budgets and regulations of LWF and her partners and donors.
- Take a lead in facilitating democratic election of refugee leaders whenever due in accordance with approved terms of reference (TOR).
- With support from camp management officers, developing/promoting and facilitating refugee participation in camp management activities.
- Standardize and coordinate camp management work across the 3 camps
- Conducting, evaluating and reporting on planned trainings within all sectors in the programme
- Preparation of activity reports after the trainings and other implemented activities within the sector.
Qualifications
- BA in international development or related field
- Trained as teacher, trainer or tutor and solid experience as trainer of trainer
- Experience working in an NGO, preferably in a refugee setting
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English. Flexible, strong inter-cultural and interpersonal skills
- Understanding and experience in the inclusion of cross cutting issues in programming i.e. gender, accountability, psychosocial support, HIV/AIDS, etc. Familiarity with Sphere standards and Humanitarian principles
- Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills
