The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania is executing the Tanzania Intermodal and Rail Development Project (TIRP) funded by the International Development Association (IDA).
The project is being implemented by Reli Assets Holding Company Ltd (RAHCO) on behalf of the Government of Tanzania. The proposed project is aiming to strengthen logistic capacity and develop intermodal container operations along the Oar es Salaam - Isaka Corridor on the central railway network. The main elements that have been identified as being critical to improve train operations are: (a) capacity and reliability of railway infrastructure, (b) availability and reliability of rolling stock, (c) strengthening of logistic chains at rail-port interfaces, (d) well-defined organizational structure and institutional responsibilities. Managing Director of RAHCO invites qualified candidates to fill the following positions in respect of the implementation of TIRP: Candidates should be Tanzanians, results oriented performance and of high ethical standards
5. Project Engineer (Permanent Way & Works) - 2 Positions
To work in the Project implementation Team (PIT) in the implementation of TIRP. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight of site works for contract packages from Dar to Isaka plus other duties relevant to the project as may be assigned by the employer.
Terms of Engagement: 1 year contract, renewable
Key Qualifications and Experience
Holder of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from recognized
institution.
Minimum of five years relevant working experience at civil engineer level on relevant
projects or in reputable design office.
Skills in design, development, implementation and management projects of infrastructure.
Registered with the Engineers Registration Board.
Knowledge of or exposure to railway operations would be an added advantage.
Very good communication skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the construction and maintenance of railway civil infrastructure and other
fixed assets (permanent way, bridges, buildings etc).
Stipulation of technical and specifications, standards and procedures for construction
works.
Preparing, 'examining, d~signing and review of new construction and rehabilitation
activities.
Review of certificates for speed potential of permanent way and bridges for operating
environment.
Stipulating performance indices for railway quarries and third part civil engineering
workshops after approval by the Director, Technical Services.
Stipulating performance indices for maintenance zone.
Construction and maintenance of formation (earthworks and drainage).
Construction and maintenance of permanent way.
Supervision of mechanized track maintenance program.
Planning and supervising track relaying and rehabilitation activities.
Other duties relevant to railway engineering as may be instructed by supervisors.
