The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania is executing the Tanzania Intermodal and Rail Development Project (TIRP) funded by the International Development Association (IDA).
The project is being implemented by Reli Assets Holding Company Ltd (RAHCO) on behalf of the Government of Tanzania. The proposed project is aiming to strengthen logistic capacity and develop intermodal container operations along the Oar es Salaam - Isaka Corridor on the central railway network. The main elements that have been identified as being critical to improve train operations are: (a) capacity and reliability of railway infrastructure, (b) availability and reliability of rolling stock, (c) strengthening of logistic chains at rail-port interfaces, (d) well-defined organizational structure and institutional responsibilities.

6. Project Engineer (Bridges & Works) 1 - Position To work in the Project Implementation Team (PIT) in the implementation of TIRP. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight of site works for Contract Packages from Dar to Isaka, plus other duties relevant to the Project as may be assigned by the employer.
Reports to: Project Manager Terms of Engagement: 1 year contract, renewable Key Qualifications and Experience • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from recognized institute. • Minimum of five years relevant working experience at civil engineer level on relevant projects or in reputable design office. • Skills in infrastructure project design, development, implementation and management. • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board. • Knowledge or exposure to railway operations would be an added advantage. • Very good communication skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities • Routine and arched Bridge examination and rehabilitation of Bridges and culverts • Rehabilitation of bridges and culverts. • Design of cost effective structures for the network. • Conducting maintenance audit for districts and initiating corrective action. • Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site. • Review design and tender documentation for bridge works from consultants. • Represent client on day to day monitoring of bridges, culverts other structures works along the project line. • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards. • Analyse survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects. • Other duties relevant to railway engineering as may be instructed by supervisors.
