Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the African Minerals Development Center of the Special Initiatives Division at the United Nations Economic commission for Africa (UNECA). The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Coordinator, African Minerals Development Center (AMDC).
Responsibilities
- Monitors and evaluates trends in development cooperation in order to grow the funding and partnership base of the AMDC; Builds knowledge of potential AMDC partners on their priorities and operational strategies in order to develop areas of relationship and alliance building;
- Develops and implements a differentiated strategy for partnership building and fundraising purposes, targeting development partners, governments and other potential AMDC partners;
- Maintains continuous conversation with current and potential AMDC partners with the view to keeping them apprised of the AMDC activities and plans, and advising the AMDC on areas and strategy for building mutually beneficial partnerships;
- Leads all fundraising and partnership building activities of the AMDC and act as chief advisor to staff of the AMDC on matters pertaining to these functions;
- Designs and implements a differentiated fundraising and partnership building strategy through the use of relevant tools and research methodologies;
- Monitors and evaluates trends in development cooperation through continuous scans of the environment with a view to growing the funding and partnership base of the AMDC;
- Builds knowledge through an operational and database, researched strategy reports and other means, of potential AMDC partners on their priorities and operational strategies in order to develop areas of relationship and alliance building;
- Leads all fundraising and partnership building activities of the AMDC through the continuous provision of advice to the Coordinator and staff of the AMDC on matters pertaining to these functions;
- Maintains continuous conversation with current and potential AMDC partners through regular interaction with the view to keeping them apprised of the AMDC activities and plans, and in return advising the AMDC on areas and strategy for building mutually beneficial partnerships;
- Decide on best approach to fundraising strategy and how to implement this in support of the AMDC fundraising campaigns;
- Decide on best strategy to build and maintain partnerships to the AMDC Decide on content and advice to the AMDC on fundraising and partnership building activities.
