International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), headquartered in Baltimore, MD is the official humanitarian aid agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America. Since its inception in 1992, IOCC has delivered $438 million in relief and development programs to families and communities in more than 50 countries.
IOCC seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Finance department and serve as a Finance / Program Coordinator at its Baltimore (Towson) office. The Finance / Program Coordinator will work closely within the department and field offices to help manage the financial position of IOCC and ensure the integrity of all financial data. The Finance / Program Coordinator will work under tight deadlines and oversee a multitude of accounting activities, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, preparation of donor reports, internal reviews, and supporting schedules and other assistance with the year-end audit.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Preparing financial statements and schedules according to established schedule • Facilitating and completing monthly close procedures • Reviewing Donor reports • Analyzing proposals and related budgets • Ensuring that approved budgets are entered into financial system accurately, timely and are updated as needed • Proactively seeking opportunities to identify inefficiencies, researching/analyzing data, and creating solution alternatives • Confirming accounting records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies and legal agreements / contracts • Performing and maintaining balance sheet account reconciliations with an in-depth analysis • Functioning as a contributing and effective member of the Accounting/Finance Team • Assisting in quarterly reporting, mid-year reporting and year-end audits • Acting as liaison with other departments, external parties, and field offices concerning accounting information • Participating in special projects as needed • Participating in internal reviews • Completing other tasks or projects as assigned
Qualified applicants will possess: • Bachelors’ or higher degree in Accounting • CPA license preferred • 7-10 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent combination of education and/or experience) • 5-7 years of experience in the non-profit sector, federal grant regulations and A - 133 guidelines • Experience with international and federal donors • Sensitivity to foreign cultures and/or church relations • Experience with 990 taxes • Strong analytical skills and reconciliation skills • Ability to prioritize, multitask, work independently and meet established deadlines in a fast – paced environment • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening) • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications • Strong organization and problem solving skills with attention to detail • An inquisitive nature, ability to take initiative, and have a solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls (GAAP) • Ability to work some overtime and international travel may be required • Ability to think strategically • A positive attitude
