World Vision seeks to hire qualified, dedicated nationals for internship positions in its Peace building Learning Center.
Introduction
The Regional Peace building Learning Center (PBLC) hosted by World Vision Rwanda was established in February/March 2010. Its key strategic objectives (2011-2014) include:
• Enhanced peace building and conflict-sensitive programming skills of NO,ADP and project staff within the EA Region.
• Improved integration and mainstreaming of peace building and conflict-sensitivity in the EA Region NO programming processes.
• Enhanced PB partnerships and networks with relevant institutions, organizations and government bodies within and beyond the EA Region.
• Research on peace building field-based programming conducted and knowledge shared widely within and beyond the EA Region.
• Increased resources for peace building and conflict-sensitivity in the EA Region.
Internship Objectives
1. To increase overall effectiveness of the PB LC by linking the efforts of experienced field professionals
with those of energetic young people [students / fresh graduates] with a knowledge base and skills sets acquired in an academic setting.
2. To provide opportunities for students/fresh graduates to gain exposure and real life work experience through association with the PB LC and other World Vision entities.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Generally, the interns will work under the supervision of the Peace building Learning Center Leader to achieve the five PB LC objectives in consideration of the Internship Objectives. Specifically, interns will support the operations of the Learning Center including but not limited to:
• Capacity building.
• Conflict/context assessments,
• Project design,
• Empowering children and youth as peace builders.
• Documentation and research on agreed topics;
• Building partnerships and networks; and
• Supporting field operations in mainstreaming peace building and conflict sensitivity.
Interns will be based in Kigali with travels to the field where required.
Duration of Internship:
Duration of internship will range from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months.
Required Qualifications:
All applicants must have a demonstrated interest in peace building and reconciliation with an intention to become practitioners. Specifically:
• Undergraduate Students or Recent Undergraduates (I Intern Required)
Applicants should be in their fourth year of study by the start of the internship moving towards earning a bachelor´s degree. Or applicants should have recently completed an undergraduate degree.
• Graduate Students or Recent Graduates (2 Interns Required)
Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in, but not yet graduated from, a master´s-level program with a focus on peace studies or any other relevant field. Or applicants should have recently completed a graduate degree in peace studies or any other relevant field.
• Be a committed Christian with evidence of mature faith.
• Aware and willing to support the organization in the pursuit of World Vision´s mission statement and have personal and family lifestyles that are consistent with the organizational core values.
A stipend shall be allocated as compensation package.
