War Child Holland is looking for a strategic expert in Education with an eye for quality and improvement. 36-40 hours p/week
As senior advisor you are responsible for key aspects of education programming which support children living in war-affected areas: policy and strategy, quality assurance, including learning, and research and development.
Key responsibilities - Lead the further development of War Child’s vision and strategic direction in education and translate these into relevant interventions. - Quality assurance of War Child projects ensuring they are based on evidence in expertise area through monitoring, evaluation, research and learning. - Initiate and supervise the development of new and innovative methodologies and tools in expertise area. - Engage with colleagues in other thematic areas to further develop War Child’s integrated programming. - Participate in (inter) national networks to stay up to date with standards, trends, and developments and identify opportunities for WCH profiling and development at the international level. - Coordinate and facilitate exchange between different programme countries on education to improve knowledge sharing, documentation and learning. - Coordinate technical guidance on the implementation of and adherence to (international) quality standards in War Child projects throughout the organisation. - Supervise capacity strengthening of colleagues in education support throughout the organisation. - Seek and contribute to coordination and collaboration with other (international) actors in the field.
Profile You have a master degree in education or closely related academic background. You have at least five years working experience in conflict affected and fragile states in (emergency) education projects. Also, you have experience working in project development as well as monitoring and evaluation. You have up to date knowledge of best practices in education support in war affected areas and a good understanding of the INEE minimum standards. You have a broad (inter) national network in this field. Furthermore, you have experience with strengthening the capacity of staff and experience in training and tool development.
In addition, are analytical, result oriented and you have excellent collaboration skills and preferably you have worked in an organisation with a focus on child rights. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and one other working language: French, Arabic and/or Spanish. Moreover, you are flexible and prepared to travel regularly to countries where War Child implements projects.

The Senior Advisor Education is based at the Head Office in Amsterdam. Initially, you will be offered an employment contract for 12 months, with the aim to extend.
