Unity State, South Sudan - The WASH Mechanic monitors and directs the day-to-day activities and operations of the WASH machines, equipment and fleet maintenance. The mechanic will coordinate maintenance and repair of generators, pumps, drilling rigs, air compressors, construction equipment, vehicles, etc. by scheduling technicians and coordinating assigned activities with other departments. The mechanic will oversee the performance of skilled tasks in the servicing, repair and maintenance of a variety of WASH equipment, machines, and vehicles. The WASH Mechanic will also oversee the inventory and procurement of all applicable parts, supplies, tools, fuels and equipment needed; he/she will develop and distribute work plan assignments and ensure completion. The WASH Mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining the database, preparing reports and supervising fleet personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform maintenance, repair and service of all WASH mobile and stationary equipment, machines, and vehicles in order to ensure that they are reliable and safe to operate; plan, assign, supervise, review and participate in the inspection, repair, diagnosis of generators, pumps, drilling rigs, air compressors, construction equipment, vehicles, etc. for scheduled and unscheduled mechanical repairs and maintenance activities. • Perform all location and procurement of applicable parts and equipment for repair and maintenance; maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Complete purchase orders, review invoices for accuracy and ensure proper levels of inventory are received. • Develop and distribute daily work plan assignments and ensure completion. • Train, motivate and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; recommend disciplinary and hiring decisions. • Respond to road calls and makes repairs in the field; perform welding, fabrication and tooling in repairs of shop equipment, light and heavy equipment. • Maintain files and records for mechanical services; review documents for accuracy, research discrepancies and update records and information as appropriate. • Operate assigned equipment and machine and tool in a safe and efficient manner. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Diploma and/or equivalent specialized training in automotive and mechanical repair or related field. • At least six years’ experience working in automotive/mechanical repair. • Skills in plumbing work, welding and similar works is an added advantage. • Able to be diplomatic in communications with all NGOs, governmental, and community partners. • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in an ever changing environment. • Must be culturally sensitive and respectful of church leaders from all denominations. • Ability to speak or quickly learn Arabic and/or Dinka.
12 month contract with the potential of renewal.
