Right To Play is an international humanitarian and development organization that uses sport and play to improve health and life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Right to Play (RTP) is committed to improving the lives of children and to strengthening their Communities by translating the best practices of sport and play into opportunities to promote development, Health and peace.
We are seeking data collection assistants for an independent evaluation of an NGO education and child rights program.
Responsibilities: The assistants will conduct:
a survey with children and youth (approximately 8 assistants)
activity based research methods with children and youth (2 assistants)
key informant interviews and focus groups with adults (2 assistants)
Two of these assistants will also conduct some data transcription.
Scope and timeframe: Research Assistants training is scheduled to begin on May 30, 2013 with the work to be completed by June 10. Work will be based in Kigali with transportation and accommodation provided during data collection in the sites of Bugesera and Rubavu as necessary.
Qualifications:
Master of Arts (completed (or in progress) in Social Sciences.
Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (Ability to work in French: an asset.)
Previous evaluation or applied research experience, preferably related to education or child rights.
Knowledge and understanding of children's education, child rights, and of NGO programming frameworks.
