CIMERWA Ltd is Rwanda's largest cement manufacturer with a capacity of 100,000 tons of cement per year. PPC Ltd from South Africa has recently acquired 51% stake in CIMERWA Ltd. The company operates a wet process technology plant in Muganza Sector, Rusizi District in Western Province. As part of the envisaged plans is to invest in a new, bigger and more efficient cement plant to meet the country's growing demand for cement.
The new plant is to be a state of the art facility with an installed capacity of 600,000 tons per year, employing the latest automated computer controlled technologies (dry processing) that are more efficient.
The following opportunities are currently available at CIMERWA Ltd as detailed out below:
1. Human Resources Manager
Reporting to: General Manager
Qualification
- AO in Human Resource Management or equivalent;
- At least 5 years Managerial experience(Specific experience in : Recruitment, implementation of sound industrial relations and corporate governance, the implementation and improvement of performance management, remuneration practices, management style and communication strategies).
Other requirements:
- To be Rwandan by Nationality;
- Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills to Maintain
and Improve the People-Asset of the organisation; - Bilingual skills- English and French;

2. Health and Safety Officer
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Qualification
- A2 in safety management or equivalent and plant and mining experience;
- At least 3 years experience in Safety, Health and Environmental Management System in a manufacturing or mining environment.
Other requirements:
- To be Rwandan by Nationality;
- Manage the plant Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems;
- Communicate of Management information to all role- players;
- Ensuring compliance with external, internal and legal requirements ;
- Excellent in Planning, prioritizing and organizational skills;
- Bilingual skills- English and French;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in KT;

3. Mining Supervisor
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Qualification
- AO in Mining engineering or equivalent qualification in Mining;
- At least 5 years in an opencast mining operation
Other requirements:
- To be Rwandan by Nationality;
- To ensure the execution of the mining / scheduling plan within the parameters of health, safety and environmental legislation by providing the means and ability to the mining / plant workforce;
- Blasting ticket ;
- At least 5 years in an opencast mining operation;
- People leadership skills ;
- Broad understanding and knowledge of earthmoving and crushing equipment;
- Excellent in Planning, prioritizing and organizational skills;
- Bilingual skills- English and French;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in ICT.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure;

4. Quality Assurance Manager
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Qualification
- AO in Chemistry or equivalent;
- At least 3 years experience within the cement manufacturing environment and good knowledge of quality assurance systems and relevant ISO standards will be advantageous.
Other requirements:
- To be Rwandan by Nationality;
- Promote and ensure effective provision of quality support to the clinker and cement manufacturing process. This includes responsibility for the quality laboratory reviews, assisting with compliance to required and relevant quality management systems;
- To maintain & optimize process parameters;
- Sound knowledge of quality assurance equipment used in cement laboratory such as XRF-, residue testing; compressive strength testing; equipment;
- Ensure adherence to optimized laboratory processes;
- Excellent in Planning, prioritizing and organizational skills;
- Bilingual skills- English and French;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in ICT;
- Attention to details;
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure;
- Good reporting skills.
5. Operations Trainer
Reporting to: Human Resources Manager
Qualification
- AO in Mechanical, Process or equivalent
- At least 5 years extensive practical experience of cement plant and process manufacturing; People Leadership; Facilitation and Presentation skills.

- To be Rwandan by Nationality;
- To develop employees and maintain a high level of skills and competencies in the manufacturing departments to ensure that the set goals of the organization are met;
- Excellent in Planning, prioritizing and organizational skills;
- Bilingual skills- English and French;

6. Procurement Officer
Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer
Qualification
- AO in Purchasing Manapement/Storekeeping/ Warehousing; Materials and Management / Purchasing Management/Supply Chain Management;
- At least five years' experience in Materials Management Environment, Knowledge of Supply chain;
Other requirements:
- To be Rwandan by Nationality;
- To co-ordinate Materials Management function from actioning on requests to final delivery of goods and/or service to internal customers and payment thereof;
- Sound knowledge of Procurement Systems;
- Knowledge of suppliers, markets, technology, trends, etc within commodities;
- Negotiation skills, Communication skills, Knowledge of Procurement Best Practices;
- Excellent in Planning, prioritizing and organizational skills;
- Bilingual skills- English and French;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in ICT. Attention to details;
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure;
- Good reporting skills.
7. Project Manager
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications:
1. Degree in Engineering
2. Registered Project Management Professional or hold MOP certificate or equivalent
Experience:
1. Minimum 10 years engineering experience in heavy industry, mining or similar industry.
2. Minimum 15 years proven project management experience. General management experience will be an advantage;
3. Minimum relevant post-graduation experience of 20 years
4. Expert in the application of project management knowledge through the nine areas: Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, HR, Communications, Risk and Procurement;
5. Ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams;
6. Ability to negotiate and manage relationships with stakeholders, contractors and support specialists at a senior management level is essential.
7. Good business, technical and financial skills are required in all areas of cement production, general mining and project management.
8. The Project Manager will need the appropriate skills to manage the general business environment using Senior Project Managers, consultants, internal services and external service providers and all internal customers.
