Asilia Africa Group Finance Manager
The challenge
We are looking for an energetic and experienced senior finance professional to assist us in managing and funding the growth of our organization. It involves the management of a company active in 6 jurisdictions in a generally challenging work environment. We are looking for someone that has a high Western work standard, sets priorities under pressure, can work highly independently and builds relationships internally and externally.
Your concrete responsibilities will include:
End responsibility for the integrity of the financial administrations and consolidation of all 6 entities of the Asilia Group of Companies
Reporting cycle:
o Monthly board reporting
o Shareholder reporting
o Annual external audits / annual report
o Policy development
Annual budget cycle
Long term financial and strategic planning
Capital expenditures monitoring and planning
Internal audit function
Tax structuring, efficiency and compliance
Group Treasury matters
Cash planning
Group Insurance Matters
Key banking relations
Management of unit finance managers
Statutory matters
The current finance team exists of 5 unit finance managers based in the various
units/country organisations and a total team of over 30 people in supporting
functions. A group accountant is responsible for accounts production and an internal
audit function with 2 professionals that dedicate part of their time to process
integrity checks.
Your key daily contacts will be the Managing Director (MD) and the Commercial
Director as well as the country directors. The GFM is an integral of the executive
team. The GFM reports to the MD and forms part of the audit & risk committee of the
board of directors of the company.
The position becomes available in Q3 2013, with handover from the current Group
Finance Manager until ultimo December 2013. You will be based in East Africa
(Arusha and Nairobi are both options) and are expected to travel regularly within the
region.

Western standards/training; impeccable ethics
5 years of work experience in comparable financial management position(s)
Rounded CFO-like profile, mastering various aspects of financial management
Experience with IFRS and big-4 audits is a must
Experience with financial planning/management of cyclical companies
Experience with fund raising / bank relationship management
Experience in tax planning and structuring
Link with / experience in Africa a plus
Self-starter & organiser
‘getting things done’ mentality; willing to work hard (60hrs+ when needed)
Willingness to dissent
Proven ability to handle complex intercultural people matters
Ability to structure and present complex matters
Generally strong with IT applications; robust excel skills required
