INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organization, with 190 Member Countries. Created in 1923, it facilitates cross-border police co-operation, and supports and assists all organizations, authorities, and services whose mission is to prevent or combat international crime. INTERPOL is now looking for two qualified candidates as Digital Forensic Researchers within the Research and Innovation Sub-directorate.

The mission of the Cyber Innovation & Outreach Directorate is to provide up-to-date specialized knowledge in the areas of research & innovation and cyber security strategy. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director Research and Innovation, the Digital Forensic Researcher will  co ordinate the specialized forensic and ad hoc projects, working group/conferences, and any other file/activity pertaining to the relevant area of the Sub-Directorate.  
The key goal of the Digital Forensic Researcher shall be to assist the Assistant Director (Research and Innovation) to promote innovative research and development in the area of cybercrime, digital security, digital forensics and leverage research and development undertaken by the Organization, in line with the organizational strategic direction and priorities.
The post holder will be the Organization’s central point of contact in the police area at stake, and is expected to provide advice to his Assistant Director and his hierarchy regarding the further development of the area, including preparing written analytical/operational studies, status reports, oral presentations/speeches to be delivered during outside conferences, internal/developmental training needs assessments, and any other relevant pro-active issue pertaining to the area.
Primary Duties
The post holder is responsible, under the supervision of the Assistant Director, for handling the following missions, pertaining to the relevant area and/or the mandate of the Sub-Directorate:
 
1. In compliance with the Organization’s priorities, management decisions and relevant policies/rules, the post holder will be responsible for implementing and coordinating all daily and ad hoc tasks pertaining to the digital crime, digital forensics, research & innovation, strategy & outreach areas.
2. In support of developing innovative global solutions, the post holder will perform analytical research activities/projects in the following digital forensics areas: facial recognition, fingerprints identification, and other biometric methods using existing tools and services of INTERPOL.
3. The post holder may be tasked to collect technical forensic information and facilitate the forensic data exchange between INTERPOL and its member countries through organizing working meetings and conferences.
4. The post holder may be called upon to participate in IRTs (Incident Response Teams) coordinating both facial recognition and fingerprint identification duties and providing other forensic biometric identification experience and expertise when required.
5. The post holder is expected to provide pro-active guidance and sound analytical studies, for his hierarchy’s decision, in order to continuously develop the digital crime, digital forensics, research & innovation, strategy & outreach areas at stake.
6. The post holder can be assigned to be a point of contact, both from inside or outside the Organization, with respect to the relevant area at stake, and can be called upon to represent the Organization in that perspective.
7. The post holder may be assigned to replace his Assistant Director to ensure the smooth daily running of the Sub-Directorate in the absence of the latter. Depending on the composition of the unit/branch, the post holder may be asked to supervise the assigned staff members.
8. Carry out all other duties as may be directed by the hierarchy related to the relevant area, in order to ensure the Organization’s continuous support to law enforcement agencies of member countries.

Requirements
All candidates will be assessed on the under mentioned requirements.
Training/Education required
• Advanced University Degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent minimum) in computer science, engineering or equivalent qualification.
Experience required
• Experience in international co-operation/investigations and knowledge e.g. Cybercrime issues;
• Strong background in Internet research;
• Current responsibility for cybercrime related crime investigations;
• Knowledge of multiple Computer Operating Systems;
• Experience in development and presentation of cybercrime related training courses;
• Working knowledge of legal issues relating to cybercrime;
• Advanced knowledge of digital forensics including securing digital evidence;
• Good command of office software, and (when applies) of specific software used in the relevant area; 
• Experience in working with computers including knowledge of oral presentations software, business intelligence and word processing software.
Languages
• Fluency in English is required.

In addition to the requirements, the following Assets and Special Aptitudes would be beneficial.
• Background in telecommunications and IT systems is desirable;
• Experience in working or studying in an international environment would be desirable;
• Experience in staff supervision is highly desirable;
• Proficiency in a second official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
 
Working Conditions
• Remuneration for appointment on contract: The starting salary for GRADE 4 is EUR 4284 (plus interim cost of living allowance) per month for a step 1.

• This post requires occasional travel on missions, sometimes of a long duration and at short notice.
• The incumbent will also be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload.
