We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Technical Advisor, Malaria in Research Triangle Park, NC or Washington, DC.
Position Description:
● Responsible for leading the development of an integrated and coordinated malaria portfolio in support of FHI 360’s strategic plan, goals, and objectives. The incumbent should possess a high level of scientific, program, and management expertise and substantial experience relevant to malaria and/or other relevant fields and the ability to manage a diverse portfolio of projects within a complex organizational framework.
● Develops and provides scientific and technical leadership for the organization’s strategic plan, mission, goals and objectives.
● Leads business development activities to grow and maintain strong malaria portfolio of work working closely with FHI 360’s Business Planning and Proposals and external funders and collaborating partners.
● Conceptualizes, leads, and contributes to proposals in malaria portfolio.
● Provides technical leadership and oversight for existing FHI 360 malaria research and program activities.
● Provides leadership and guidance on U.S. and international initiatives relevant to malaria.
● Facilitates the exchange of technical information and strategies among FHI 360 staff working in malaria.
● Builds on the current network and contributes to FHI 360’s efforts to enhance and sustain capacity in malaria.
● Represents FHI 360 at scientific meetings, other malaria technical meetings, on scientific panels and in discussions with governmental organizations such as USAID and CDC, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as well as private foundations (e.g., Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation); WHO; government counterparts; and implementing agencies in coordinating their participation in project development and implementation.
● Provides leadership in the communication of scientific findings in peer-reviewed publications, reports and at scientific meetings.
● Ensures coordination with other FHI 360 Departments and Groups to foster integration of malaria into broader infectious disease programs and research portfolios.
Minimum Requirements:
● Substantial experience designing, working, and conducting large scale programs and/or research in developing countries, preferably in Africa and Asia.
● Strong relationships and credibility within the international infectious disease/ malaria community. Excellent professional reputation.
● Substantive record of technical publications or presentations.
● Demonstrated familiarity with international public health sector and international community.
● Personnel management and grants management experience.
● French proficiency desirable, but not required.
Education/Experience:
● PhD, MD or Master’s level in health related field and 10 years+ demonstrated technical experience in malaria, particularly related to research and programs.
