PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Identify and develop new business opportunities supporting our mission of empowering people through gaining access to high quality and affordable financial services in the area of Accounting Finance, IT Mobile Technology or Agriculture Economics. This position will monitor and report on market trends, stay abreast of technology changes in the respective areas, focus on developing relationships with donor organizations, prepare funding proposal and conduct negotiations with funding agencies as necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. New Project Development: Identification and development of new programs with an emphasis on Accounting Finance, IT Mobile Technology, or Agriculture Economics as defined in annual work plans and specific financial targets. Responsibilities include exploratory assessments and visits to credit union movements and funders, financial and operational field analyses, and project design. Oversee recruitment efforts for project based consultants.
2. Proposal Writing: Follow-through on newly identified projects with drafting proposals, project marketing and funder negotiations. All proposals will be consistent with WOCCU project development guidelines and institutional principles such as sustainability, market rate pricing of services, member capital participation, etc.
3. Assistance to Ongoing Programs: Assists home office, regional and program managers in monitoring and evaluation of existing programs. Conducts field visits to assess progress against the project work plan and identifies potential problems or opportunities and provides recommendations to strengthen or expand financial service delivery.
4. Technical Direction and Support: Assists regional directors, program managers and project directors in documenting technical tools, approaches and methodologies that will strengthen WOCCU’s financial initiatives and broaden its capability to submit bids for development programs.

Education and Experience: BA/BS Degree in business, finance, banking or economics or related field or equivalent training and experience. At least two (2) years of experience in the funding, designing and analysis of financial, technological or agricultural development programs; and two (2) years of project management experience with micro finance, technological or rural and agricultural development programs. Proven success at identifying and securing new business opportunities.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact closely with technical and managerial staff and maintain good working relationships within and outside of the organization. Ability to work as a team player towards organizational goals and objectives.
Language Skills: English and Spanish/French/ Russian/or European language fluency (written and spoken) required. High language skills required including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to communicate concepts and ideas effectively; proficient in use of English grammar and punctuation.
Mathematical Skills: Intermediate mathematical skills required including ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
