Job Description:
- Lead a team of VAS Engineers tasked with ensuring the fault-free operation of all VAS platforms in the network, these include but are not limited to GPRS elements, MMSC, SMSC, VMS, Content servers, E-refill)
- Maintain accurate documentation of VAS platform database, software and hardware configurations.
- Ensure that all alarms from these are monitored, audited and promptly serviced.
- Ensure that trouble tickets are generated for all faults and incidents and that the NOC is kept informed of such.
- Ensure routine O&M tasks are performed for all platforms
- Coordinate test and fault investigation activities as required and follow up with the vendors
- Coordinate CMF and upgrade/enhancement activities as required.
- Keep track of all CMF's executed on the various VAS platforms
- Extract Performance Data, CDR's and Alarm logs for delivery to the teams that need them
- Ensure that regular Backups of operational configurations are taken for all VAS platforms.
- International GPRS Roaming configuration, test and troubleshooting
- Project Liaison with other Departments in the development of M-Banking, e-commerce, and prepaid electricity billing and other services.
- SMS, VMS, configuration and troubleshooting. (Nokia SMSC & Comverse platform experience highly desirable if possible)
- Testing and Troubleshooting interconnections between VAS nodes and other network entities,.
Skills Description:
- A minimum of 2 years Operator experience focused on the delivery of multi-vendor VAS within a GSM environment,. Experience working with Nokia Siemens equipment would be a strong advantage.
- Experience of provisioning and maintaining VAS platforms such as SMSC, VMS, MMSC, GPRS (SGSN/GGSN), Content servers etc
- Minimum 1 year of working with admin of Unix based platforms.
- Be comfortable with working in an IP world, while some Cisco certification (minimum CCNA) is desirable, this is not essential.
- Possess a good general knowledge of all key elements of a GSM network and their interaction with one another
- Ability to interpret and take action on Network Performance Statistics and utilization measurements.
- SS7 expertise for CAMEL, MAP, and ISUP signaling, expertise with SS7 protocol analyzers (preferably but not necessarily Tektronix K12 series)
- Should possess good interpersonal skills, and be able to represent the company effectively while presenting solutions to potential customers.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance and support personnel of both the vendors and AWCC.
- A team player with a strong commitment transferring knowledge to other staff,
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to isolate the root cause of problems.
Education:
- A minimum of a 2'nd class Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
