Reproductive health Uganda (RHU) is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and its core mandate is to promote high quality, highimpact and gender sensitive Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights information and services through capacity building, specialized service delivery, issue specific advocacy and strategic partnerships. It is a volunteer owned and led organization, with the volunteer body having a distinct role to play in governance, but not in actual project management and implementation
RHU seeks to recruit highly skilled, experienced and motivated persons to fill the following positions:
Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator (1 Post)
Duty Station: RHU Head Office, Kampala Reports to: Director of Programmes
Job Role:
Develop and implement an effective Monitoring and Evaluation system that address the needs of RHU.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of RHU Programs and Projects
2. Consolidate and analyze Association service statistics and advise management about adherence to programme focus vis a vis strategic plan
3. Package RHU programme out-puts and share them with management stakeholders, periodically
4. Contribute to research planning and budgeting process, including developing of concept papers and proposals
5. Train staff in the use of M&E and Research methods
6. Facilitate data management of the Association, including production of electric reports
7. Lead in formulating Research, Monitoring and Evaluation system that stimulates learning and measurement of progress
8. Lead production, dissemination and utilization of evidence-based research and subsequent results
9. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Knowledge, skills and temperament:
Thorough knowledge and skills in, monitoring, evaluation and research. Proven knowledge and experience in quantitative and qualitative M/E and research methods especially in Reproductive Health; ability to write concise reports and submit them within set deadlines; and ability to work effectively under pressure, and to conceptualize, develop, and implement performance based improvement strategies. Training skills and ability to generate and maintain accurate records
Training and experience:
Masters degree in BSc Statistics, or Computer Science. Conversant with Computer packages such as SPSS, Epinfo etc and with experience in qualitative as well as quantitative data analysis and dissemination. Experience in social research, data base design and maintenance for at least three years. Individuals with previous NGO experience will have added advantage.
Service Provider In-Charge (1 Post)
Duty Station: Tororo
Reports to: Medical Coordinator
Job Role:
Manage and provide Sexual & Reproductive Health(SRH) services at RHU outlets in accordance with M.O.H and international guidelines. SRH services include counseling and providing of long and short term methods of family planning, diagnosis of simple related conditions, such as STIs, malaria, UTI/RTI, screening for cancer of the cervix, management of infertility, HIV counseling and testing, etc. These services are offered at the static clinic as well as in the community, through outreach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Initiate and develop programme activities that address branch gender and youth focused SRH client needs.
2. Manage clinic, outreach and community SRH service delivery units so as to attain and maintain quality standards and increase male as well as female clientele
3. Co-ordinate and monitor programme and project implementation at the RHU branch to ensure attainment of planned results.
4. Provide cost –effective and sustainable clinical SRH services to clients at all delivery units as per RHU’s SRH package.
5. Provide technical training, guidance and mentoring to staff and community resource persons to standardize and improve their performance
6. Develop and maintain networks with partner organizations at district level for purposes of information as well as resource sharing and cost saving
7. Coordinate and support RHU Volunteer Members’ activities at the branch
8. Maintain valid and up to date documentation regarding RHU branch activities, including the preparing timely, accurate and complete programme and financial reports
9. Advocate for inclusion of RHU activities into district work plans, and advocate for access to District health resources
10. Perform any other professional duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, skills and temperament:
Thorough knowledge as well as skill in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services. Skill in offering related training, quality of care assessment, supervision, excellent report writing and feedback. Demonstrated effective leadership, administration and motivation skills, organizational ability and capacity to multi-task and deliver accurate and complete results in an efficient and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision or under pressure, and willingness to coach, guide, and build task oriented teams.
Training and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Comprehensive Nursing from an accredited institution and five years of relevant experience in Reproductive Health Service Delivery, including long term family planning, as well as proven training and experience in project management. Individuals with previous NGO experience and basic book-keeping and accounting skills will have added advantage.
Service Provider (1 Post)
Duty Station: Arua
Reports to: Service Provider In-Charge
Job Role:
Provide Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services to all clients according to Ministry of Health (MOH) and RHU guidelines
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Inform, educate, communicate and motivate clients to make informed Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) choices, especially in the area of family planning and HIV/AIDS
2. Provide integrated SRH services to clients at all delivery points that include family planning, HIV Counseling and Testing, STIs, adolescent reproductive health, community sensitization, etc., as per RHU’s SRH service package
3. Refer clients where necessary, to defined referral point(s)
4. Collect and maintain complete and accurate records of clients according to RHU/MOH service statistics manual
5. Analyze and utilize data to improve services at health facility
6. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, skills and temperament:
Thorough knowledge and skills in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services including delivery of none permanent methods of contraception. Demonstrated ability to handle youth sexuality and reproductive issues; ability to write and submit quality reports within set deadlines; and ability to work effectively under pressure. Proven knowledge and experience in providing Maternal & Child Health and male focused interventions. Ability to manage common tropical illnesses. Skills in training and ability to generate and maintain accurate reports and records
Training and experience:
Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing or Registered Nurse/Midwife. Three years experience in providing integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health services. Individuals with previous NGO experience and offering maternity services will have added advantage.
Laboratory Technician (3 Posts)
Duty Station: Gulu (1), Hoima (1), and (1), Lira (1)
Reports to: Branch In-Charge
Job Role:
Provide Laboratory services at RHU service delivery points to compliment clinical services at select clinics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Process specimens, and help diagnose conditions and release quality and timely laboratory results
2. Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and reagents in accordance with laboratory standards
3. Refer clients or specimens to relevant partner agencies as necessary
4. Plan for, budget and maintain adequate stock of laboratory reagents and equipment
5. Provide technical advice on ways of improving current laboratory services
6. Perform any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, skills and temperament:
Thorough knowledge and skills in laboratory service provision. Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to multi-task in an efficient and timely manner; demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, and willingness to coach and build task oriented teams.
Training and experience:
Diploma in Laboratory Science Technology. Experience in providing laboratory services for a wide range of conditions over at least two years. Previous NGO experience will be an added advantage.
