JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Partners In Health is a Harvard-affiliated NGO operating in twelve countries worldwide. Partners In Health- Rwanda/ Inshuti Mu Buzima (PIH/IMB) has worked in Rwanda since 2005, partnering with the Rwandan government and Clinton Health Access Initiative to strengthen primary health systems in three rural districts, namely: Kayonza, Burera and Kirehe.

Job Title: NCD- EMR program Assistant
Reports to: EMR District Coordinator
Location: Burera, Rwanda
Overall responsibilities
This individual is responsible for providing high-level data entry support for the EMR program. This individual will be responsible for entering data and ensuring that this data is clean in its entirety, and reporting of accurate and timely data to support the NCD and Oncology Programs. S/he is also responsible for conducting EMR NCD and Oncology data quality assessment and set strategy to improve the quality of data
Specific Responsibilities and duties
NCD-EMR data entry
1. Ensure that all completed forms (DdB and Flow sheets) from NCD and Oncology clinic of Burera hospital catchment area are taken to EMR office to be entered.
2. Enter with accuracy all forms from NCD clinic that can be entered into the EMR and not later than 3 days the consultation occurred
3. Communicates with the NCD and Oncology clinical staff as a feedback regarding incomplete forms or data gaps and the further work required.
4. Make sure all entered forms are taken back to the chronic care clinic and filed correctly.
5. Travel to the other health centers (includes Burera catchment area at least once every 2 weeks) to enter or collect completed forms.
NCD- EMR data reporting
1. Runs elementary queries and reports, as designed by the EMR programmers or requested by clinical/ EMR supervision
2. Assist with the daily health center report when either those responsible are absent or it is otherwise requested by of one of the supervisors.
3. Send weekly status updates to the EMR Coordinator r and copy to the NCD Program Manage
4. In collaboration with the EMR Coordinator, conduct a report assessment every quarter by specifying the number of patients in each NCD program (live, transferred, defaulted, died, …patients)
NCD- EMR data quality
1. Working closely on data quality and reports with the EMR District coordinator, detects what needs to be corrected from EMR (i.e EMR Data quality tools, doing some elementary queries for reports and for data quality.)
2. Provide input on and make changes to paper and electronic copies of chronic care forms where possible
1. In collaboration with the EMR District Coordinator, conduct quarterly NCD and Oncology data quality assessment in Burera and report it to the EMR District Coordinator. Travel to other district hospitals in PIH catchment area or as requested by supervisors, to work with district coordinators in implementing and follow up of a data quality improvement plan.
Reporting to supervisors
1. Provides quarterly and annual reports for NCD and Oncology EMR program.
2. In collaboration with the EMR coordinators, Provide report of encountered problems in data entry and work with clinical program manager and available programmers to provides relevant solutions.
3. Perform any other additional related work tasks as requested by the EMR District Coordinator. Assist on reporting and data quality when needed or requested by one of coordinators
Program support and expertise transfer
1. Assist programmers in testing DdB and flow sheet forms for treated conditions by NCD, Oncology and where required.
2. Work closely with the EMR District Coordinator for any other related work issue as well as data quality, reporting, trainings, etc. Plan and provide training for NCD and Oncology clinicians
3. Meeting regularly and frequently with the EMR District Coordinator to ensure that clinicians understand the electronic records and reporting used,
4. Doing all other related work when requested by NCD and/or Oncology Clinicians or EMR District Coordinator including maintenance of register data.
Requirements and qualifications;
• A1 level in nursing is preferred or A2 in nursing with 1 year experience in management of medical data is required for this position. Alternatively, an A2 qualifications with 2 years relevant experience in using OpenMRS
• A thorough understanding of how EMR is used at the health center and hospital level
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Great oral and communication skills
• Ability to effectively improve communication in English
• Ability to speak and write in Kinyarwanda
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups
