FLEGT Facilitators/Forest Governance Experts theIDLgroup has been providing advisory and facilitation support to Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) processes since 2005. Over this period we have established a strong reputation for providing high-quality, professional support to support FLEGT initiatives, particularly in West Africa, but also in other timber-producing countries. This expertise is held largely in-house and includes support to FLEGT briefing and awareness raising missions, FLEGT Facilitation support to EU Delegations during VPA negotiations and through into implementation, and the provision of training courses on FLEGT and VPAs. From 2007 to 2012, theIDLgroup provided FLEGT Facilitators to support to the EU Delegations in both Ghana and Liberia in the negotiation and implementation of their respective Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPAs) with the EU. The role of the FLEGT Facilitator has included responsibility for: · providing advisory support to the staff of the EU Delegations; · facilitating the involvement of the private sector and civil society in the consultation processes; · the promotion of a joint and harmonised approach to the programming of development assistance in support of VPA implementation; and · supporting the coordination of a range of FLEGT-related projects and initiatives both in-country and within the region. theIDLgroup is interested in expanding our pool of consultants available for long term and short-term consultancies to support FLEGT initiatives in developing countries. We are particulartly keen to hear from consultants with experience in forest governance and multi-stakeholder dialogue processes and interest in working as a FLEGT Faciliator in West or Central Africa, and those with foreign language skills (French or Spanish).
