The Union now has a vacancy for a Membership Officer, who will be based at our regional office in Singapore. This is a full-time post. Preference will be given to local residents. Competitive remuneration offered.
Overall Role: The Union is expanding its membership activities internationally. The Membership Officer’s responsibilities will include developing and maintaining a ‘Members Only’ space (an online resource centre dedicated to members) and ensuring that the resource library is regularly updated. S/he will also liaise with staff from different Union offices and departments, and work closely with the Membership Coordinator at The Union’s headquarters in France.
In addition to facilitating member communications and activities globally, the post holder will also engage with key members in the Asia Pacific Region in order to ensure regular exchanges of information and will reach out to potential new members to grow membership in the region.
Responsibilities: Global Level • Develop and maintain the “Members only” space online; • Carry out acquisition and renewal campaigns for individual members and subscribers to The Union’s scientific journal; • Handle all of the administrative elements of annual elections and act as the interface between the Institute and the members for all correspondence and action points pertaining to these elections. • Collect the reports from various meetings for publication on the “Members only” space • Ensure that the Membership pages on The Union website are regularly and accurately updated with the latest information; and that the membership e-mailing lists are also updated on a monthly basis. Regional Level • Engage with current constituent and organisational members in the Asia Pacific Region to provide regular updates on member activities for the regional website. • Assist in recruiting new members in the Asia Pacific Region through emails, campaigns, telephone prospection and attendance at local events (conferences, workshops) • Research medical libraries and universities across the Asia Pacific Region and reach out to them in order to grow the database of potential new subscribers to the International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. • Represent The Union at local events (e.g. membership booth at regional and world conferences) Other: • Participate in other communications and rapport-building activities with members as appropriate under the guidance of the Membership and Communications units based at The Union Headquarters; • Any other duties assigned by the Membership Coordinator. • Work in compliance with The Union’s Mission and Vision statements, and Core Values – Quality, Accountability, Independence and Solidarity. Qualifications: Essential • Minimum undergraduate degree in communications or a related field • 2-3 years’ work experience preferably in a membership or communications role, or related profession • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with tact and diplomacy • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Self-starter with a positive attitude and dynamic • Proven IT skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; and comfortable with new and upcoming social media tools) • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills • Pays attention to detail, meticulous • Ability to adapt to changing work patterns/situations and different audiences • Flexible, takes initiative • Excellent written and spoken English. • Available to travel, approximately 2-3 times a year, primarily within the Asia Pacific Region Desirable • Experience working in an international environment • Experience working or volunteering for a not-for-profit organisation • Custom-oriented and cultural awareness • Professional • Ability to speak and write Mandarin / Spanish / French
