Art in Tanzania (AIT) is a self-sustainable Non Government Organisation (NGO) registered in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Ethiopia and Finland. Established in Dar es Salaam in 2001, Art in Tanzania currently has volunteer and internship centres in Dar es Salaam, Moshi, the Maasai tribal lands, Karatu, and Zanzibar. Over the course of a year, AIT receives over 1,000 volunteers and interns, with approximately 100 volunteers/interns in country at one time. The volunteer’s community work focuses on assisting in Educational, Cultural and Medical projects including Nursery, Primary and Secondary Education assistance, Orphan care, Women’s Groups, HIV awareness, Adult English Classes, Music production, Arts & Handicrafts and Magazine publishing.
Art in Tanzania’s Mission:
Advancement of community development through volunteer and intern projects in the fields of education, HIV/AIDS awareness, construction, sports programs and orphan care and the development of media (Mzuka Records and Fiesta Magazine) to promote social awareness.

The Position:
Project/Finance/Internship Coordinator and Team Leader oversees and manages volunteers, interns and local staff in Moshi. He/She will focus on the development of community volunteer programs and fundraising/donations activities in the town of Moshi. This person will also be responsible for the coordination of all finances in Moshi.
The job:
Project Coordination:
- Organising and overseeing various educational, environmental and community development activities and projects for international volunteers.
- Monitoring and improving current projects and development of new projects
- Responsible for all liaisons with placements, including daily communications and weekly visits
- Assisting volunteers in their projects, helping with lessons plans and teaching ideas
Financial Duties:
- Assisting with organising fundraising activities in-country
- Facilitating progress updates to sponsorship donors
- Overseeing weekly budgets and financial accounts (including food and fuel budget, volunteers’ payments, bar money)
- Handling all donations and sponsorships in the Moshi area
Internship Coordinator:
- Facilitate communication with future interns prior to their arrival to Moshi
- Coordinate their internship programs while in country
- Create write-ups about the programs offered by Moshi Universities to the Western Universities (Primarily Finland)
- Meet with Universities in Moshi to confirm schedule and availability of courses
Team Leading Duties:
- Updating CRM with booking, volunteering and safari information
- Supervising and guiding intern and volunteer programs
- Check and confirm flight information prior to arrival
- Allocating accommodation and facilitating volunteer briefing on arrival
- Contact Agencies with any updates regarding volunteer heath or issues while they are in country
- Other administrative tasks

- Fluency in English, Knowledge of Swahili helpful

Note:
