Based in Maputo, Mozambique, the FANTA III Country Manager will provide vision and leadership to FANTA-III technical assistance activities in the areas of nutrition assessment, counseling and support (NACS), prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), infant and young child nutrition (IYCN), prevention of undernutrition, food security, and nutrition and agriculture. The Country Manager will manage FANTA-III’s technical assistance to USAID/Mozambique and its partners, including support for national-level coordination mechanisms and policies, strategies, action plans and operational plans, training of service providers in nutritional care, establishment of M&E and quality improvement systems for facility-level health services and community level nutrition programs, and inputs to the design and implementation of USG-programs and the Mozambique Ministry of Health (MISAU) services. The Country Manager will work in close coordination with the FANTA-III Nutrition/Infectious Diseases, Emergency Nutrition, MCHN and Nutrition and Agriculture clusters and will advise and report to USAID/Mozambique. In close coordination with FHI360’s Office in Mozambique, the Country Manager will manage all administrative and financial aspects of FANTA-III operations in Mozambique.
Essential Job Functions:
•Provide technical assistance to USAID/Mozambique, MISAU and partners in the areas of nutrition assessment, counseling and support (NACS) in the context of infectious disease, prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), infant and young child nutrition (IYCN), prevention of undernutrition, food security, and nutrition and agriculture. Technical assistance activities include:
◦Development of technical resource materials including guidelines, training manuals, curricula, job aids.
◦Development of reports, concept notes, work plans and other materials to support to the design and implementation of nutrition programs.
◦Planning, facilitation and supervision of trainings.
◦Support for integration of nutrition indicators into monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems.
◦Establishment of quality improvement systems.
