Stanbic Bank Uganda is seeking to recruit a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the following vacancies in CIB Client Coverage team

Head of Global Markets Sales (SBG 13)


This is a managerial position reporting to the Director, Global Markets. The successful candidate will have overall management and responsibility for Global Markets Sales within Stanbic Bank Uganda’s Global Markets. This entails ensuring a strategic and coordinated sales focus on servicing the Global Markets needs of both existing and new business clients.

Key performance areas General sales

* Develops and drives Stanbic Bank Uganda’s Global Markets sales strategy around growing and servicing clients while ensuring that it is in line with and supports Stanbic Bank Uganda’s broader strategy.
* Retention and development of existing business
* Has responsibility for the implementation of the Global Markets sales model within Stanbic Bank Uganda’s Global Markets, with the aim of providing a level of service which is of high quality, and which is consistent with the standard of service delivered by other Standard Bank Group treasuries in South Africa and globally.
* New business
* Participate in formulating and reviewing strategies to pursue clients who have never handled Global Markets business with Stanbic Bank.

Relationships (internal and external)

* Establishes, grows and maintains a broad network of strategic stakeholders both internal and external to Stanbic Bank Uganda and the Standard Bank Group in order to ensure that the correct communication and decision-making channels are open and available.

Information and reporting

* Has a thorough understanding of the strategic business drivers, opportunities, challenges, needs, competition and threats inherent in the business sectors/environments within which clients operate. Has insight into local and international trends, developments and benchmarks within the financial sector, banking and specifically Global Markets products.

Requirement:

Knowledge and skills required to perform role Education

* Good understanding of the Financial Institutions Act A tertiary qualification in an appropriate business-related degree or diploma

Experience

* An excellent working knowledge of foreign exchange and money markets, and an intermediate understanding of other Global Markets products
* A good understanding of macro economics and current economic trends
* A good appreciation and knowledge of risk management, covering operational risk, market risk and credit risk

Global Markets and banking background

* At least 3 years experience in marketing foreign exchange/money market products and services
* Thorough knowledge of the Exchange Control Rules and Regulations applicable, if any Strong networks within the corporate/commercial/government sectors Experience in high-level relationship building and maintenance

Personality traits

* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
* Sales and marketing personality (a people person)
* Determination to succeed
* Ability to work under pressure
* Reasoning and negotiation skills
* Motivational skills

Experience: 3

Relationship Officer (SBG 10), 2 Positions

This officer position reports to the Relationship Managers. The successful candidate will provide operational support to the Relationship Managers and take full accountability for day-to-day transactional business across a specified portfolio of clients.

Key performance areas

Business Acumen and Market Understanding

* Awareness of the strategy of Stanbic Bank Uganda and how the vision and objectives of Corporate Banking support this
* Clear understanding of each client’s industry and business together with the internal and external factors affecting the long term viability of the business and industry sector

Client Profitability and Risk Management

* Understands the necessity for and conforms to the bank’s risk policies and procedures for example; sign-offs, levels of authority
* Ensures, along with the Relationship Manager, that all operational aspects (such as preparing the right documentation) of a new business transaction or changes to an existing one are in place prior to it being authorised
* Understands and monitors the risk appetite of clients, markets and industries. Communicates trends and patterns in a timely manner to the Relationship Manager with recommendations of how to manage to the mutual benefit of both the client and the bank

Relationship Building

* Develops and maintains an extensive and diverse network, both internal and external to the bank, and utilises it to facilitate the efficient delivery of service to the client – and to source leading edge information regarding possible opportunities and risks such as identifying leads and introducing specialists to the client

Service Delivery

* Ensures that clients utilise all appropriate transactional products to their benefit and that these are grouped/structured to maximise efficiency, value-addition and cost-benefit ratio
* Provide a high level of service and advice to a portfolio of clients

Requirement:

Experience required for the role

* Good knowledge of the bank’s products and activities at the branch
* Good grasp of credit and accounting procedures.

Corporate Dealer (SBG 11)

This is a managerial position reporting to the Head of Global Markets Sales. The successful candidate will provide an ongoing efficient and effective service to a portfolio of corporate clients with the aim of maximising the global markets product turnover and profitability thereof.

Key performance areas

* Achieve turnover and profit targets aligned to the overall treasury objective
* Market knowledge (economic fundamentals): Remain up-to-date with current global developments (such as economic and political) and assemble, disseminate and distribute economic news
* Client interface/sales (deal execution, relationships and client margins): Understand client exposures to treasury products, their budgets, benchmark hedging policies, regular (dividends) and irregular (capital investment) treasury flows and the clients view.
* Ensure the customers are aware of the latest product developments as well as what is happening on the international and local front, and inform the customer what our expectations are for the market.
* Provide a high level of service and advice to a portfolio of clients.
* Maximise customer treasury product turnover by quoting competitive rates on a consistent basis.

* Maximise revenue from clients’ business without taking on market risk.

Requirement:

Knowledge and skills required to perform role /Education

* A tertiary qualification with an appropriate business-related degree or diploma
* A completed ACI Dealing Certificate or one due to be successfully completed within 3 months

Experience ‘

* Understand the principles and practice of foreign exchange operations Treasury experience in the fields of:
* Spot foreign exchange
* Forward foreign exchange
* Deposits/arbitrage

Derivatives (not a pre-requisite)

* Where applicable, understanding the basics of Exchange Control General banking background
* Full understanding of domestic and international economics and other factors that affect treasury products
* Have an up-to-date knowledge of both local and foreign current affairs Marketing techniques (how to win the confidence of the client) Good communication and presentation skills
* Understanding of market ethics according to the ACI code of conduct A good appreciation and knowledge of Risk Management, covering operational risk, market risk, counterparty risk and credit risk Mathematically inclined and computer literate
