Overview
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition.
The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 530 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children. Nutrition products are as varied as fortified cooking oil and flour in Africa, soy sauce in China and biscuits in India, as well as specialized products for infant and young child nutrition, and interventions to protect the most vulnerable affected by emergencies or chronic illness.
Job Description
We now have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate, Press and Media Relations. As part of the Policy and Advocacy team, Communications drives the delivery of corporate messages to a diverse set of audiences - from global, regional, national policy makers, the private sector, donors, media and the general public.
Duties
- Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Senior Associate will drive GAIN’s engagement of the media to enhance its visibility – through traditional and new media in Europe – and through meetings with key European decision makers;
- Developing a media strategy for GAIN, with a focus on Europe, you will advise senior management on building relationships with key European influentials and organizations;
- With your proven track record of developing successful media relations in Europe, you will educate GAIN's media contacts and build on your personal connections with key journalists and editors in order to raise the profile of undernutrition and ensure accurate information is delivered.
Qualifications
- You have at least 8 years' experience in media training, press management and relationship building for an international organization, and significant experience of developing a media strategy and successful media relations in Europe;
- With your exceptional communication abilities, you have the gravitas and proactive approach necessary to identify and develop media partnerships that reflect innovative and transformative approaches to content development, distribution and engagement;
- A Bachelors or Masters Degree (preferred) in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Administration, or suitable equivalent is required;
- Verbal and written fluency in English is essential, fluency in French is highly desirable.
