The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization with its Headquarters in Vienna is the international organization setting up the global verification system foreseen under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which is the Treaty banning any nuclear-weapon-test explosion or any other nuclear explosion. The Treaty provides for a global verification regime, including a network of 321 stations worldwide, a communications system, an international data centre and on-site inspections to monitor compliance.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the Director, International Data Centre Division (IDC) to:
- Undertake the programme and project technical coordination of the work of the Division as assigned by the Director in particular providing advice on the status of matters critical to the commissioning plan of the IDC and relevant parts of the International Monitoring System Division (IMS);
- In cooperation with the Planning and Project Officer within the project office, oversee the preparation of a uniform and integrated programme of work for the setting of goals and priorities and ensure that the related budgets reflect the Organizational priorities; prepare the technical elements of the performance reporting for the Division;
- Review and analyse the technical components of the Divisional work programmes and assess the quality and effectiveness of their implementation; in cooperation with the sections concerned and advise the Director on changes to increase the effectiveness and assure quality;
- Coordinate with other divisions and sections throughout the Organization and with external service providers to ensure that the technical requirements of the IDC and its inter-divisional cross-cutting programmes continue to be met in the most cost-effective manner and advise the Director on taking remedial action as required;
- Supervise and monitor the fusion process to ensure that work priorities are maintained and keep under review plans for changes which would enhance the effectiveness; Coordinate the implementation of improvements to the application software;
- Coordinate documentation and reports being presented to governing bodies, ensuring that the information provided is clear, complete and in line with existing policies and priorities;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in geophysics, science, management or a related field;
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience at least three years of which should have been in senior managerial position preferably in an International environment;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Working knowledge of one of the other official languages of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission is an asset.

Remuneration/Contract:
Indicative tax-free annual net base salary (inclusive of a variable element for post adjustment) from US$124,580 (without dependants) and US$134,101 (with dependants), subject to deductions of contributions to the CTBTO Provident Fund and Health Insurance Scheme. Additional benefits include, when applicable, dependency allowance, education grant for children, rental subsidy, six weeks vacation per year, home leave travel every two years. Initial contract for a fixed term of three years.
