Responsibilities:
- Advise the Cummins Africa Leadership Team and Business Units on all legal aspects related to the development of Cummins’ business strategy in Africa
- Provide legal consultation to Cummins’ internal clients in Africa and provide advice on legal risks, exposures and mitigation options regarding legal and business issues
- Draft and review legal documents and provide legal advice on a wide variety of commercial transactions
- Provide leadership in the execution of key legal projects such as joint ventures, entity formations, and distributor/dealer arrangements
- Manage and consult with outside counsel in a cost-effective, efficient manner
- Develop and implement processes and procedures for ensuring legal department efficiencies and alignment with Cummins’ vision, mission and values
- Drive a culture of ethics and compliance through audits, training and policy development
- Hire, train and manage other legal department staff members, as needed.
Requirements:
- 5-7 years’ post-articles experience practicing law at a major law firm
- LLB degree
- Admitted Attorney (South Africa or other comparable jurisdiction).
