• Implement and observe financial procedures and guidelines as per organization’s financial resources manual;
• Maintain and implement effective financial management systems;
• Ensure compliance with donor / funding partner financial requirements;
• Take lead in budget preparation and implementation for the Organization;
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and ensure optimum utilization of resources to increase impact on the quality of ABC programmes;
• Oversee and guide implementation of projects from a financial perspective;
• Prepare timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial returns for transmission donors / funding partners;
• Prepare accurate financial reports using QuickBooks accounting software
• Prepare and manage payroll system
• Oversee ABC’s Treasury management function;
• Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors during audits;
• Oversee and manage the organization’s day-to-day administrative functions, staff development and logistical operations; and
• Be part of a management team responsible for ensuring that the organization follows and lives out its mission effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications and experience:
The ideal candidate, a Kenyan national, must have at least five years working experience in an NGO or a private enterprise environment, part of which will be operating QuickBooks accounting software and payroll management. Have academic qualification such as Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Business Administration from a recognized university and CPA (K). An MBA degree in Finance, Human Resources or Strategic Management will be an added advantage. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of programme financial management and administration; planning, organizing and facilitation skills; written and oral communication skills; and information technology skills (MS-Office products and computerized accounting software particularly QuickBooks is a MUST. Adaptability and team building skills are essential.
