Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded South Sudan Transition and Conflict Mitigation Program II. The program aims to promote conflict mitigation and stabilization in vulnerable or conflict-prone communities through the implementation of small in-kind grants. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all programmatic aspects of the program, including grants and short-term technical assistance
- Support the chief of party in managing and overseeing the program
- Supervise activity development and staff
- Ensure appropriate grant and short-term assistance design, establishment of and compliance with proper procedures, monitoring and evaluation, and closeout
- Be the chief of party’s and contracting officer representative’s primary point of contact for current information about activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum four years of relevant experience in a related role, including grants, sub-grants, small grants under contract, and provision of technical assistance, and demonstrated supervisory experience
- Experience with activity design as well as development and management of development-type projects
- Experience with or knowledge of community participation-type projects as well as those that are focused on conflict and political transition
- Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatility
- Capacity to understand and analyze national, regional, and local South Sudanese politics; to guide the program staff in creatively designing grants that relate to current conflict dynamics and political events; and to ensure that activities are appropriately implemented, monitored, evaluated, and closed out
- Fluency in English required
