£41,124 | 18 month fixed-term contract | London
Making the world face up to uncomfortable truths isn’t easy, but it’s an essential part of what Amnesty International (AI) does. Without strong research it wouldn’t be possible. Which is why we need a talented Researcher to join our Refugee & Migrants’ Rights Team.
About the role
Leading our research into the rights of migrants in the Gulf, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support vital advocacy and lobbying work. That means conducting and coordinating research activities and monitoring, investigating and analysing political, legal and social developments and human rights conditions. You’ll also give authoritative advice on these areas and maintain a network of contacts to ensure we get the right information at the right time. In short, you’ll get our work in this growing area of concern off to the strongest possible start.
About you
Thanks to your history of researching human rights or related issues, you’ll bring us excellent research and analysis skills, sound political judgement and a proven ability to develop effective human rights strategy. Ideally, you’ll have specialist knowledge of migrant and/or labour rights. And you’ll certainly have first-hand experience of working in the field in the Arab-speaking world, plus the knowledge of the political, social, legal, economic, cultural and gender issues that go with it. You’ll also be fluent in English and have a strong working knowledge of Arabic. And because a campaign-oriented approach is needed every bit as much as exceptional writing skills, you’ll likely have experience conducting research for campaigning and social change.
About us
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied. Already our network of over three million members and supporters is making a difference in 150 countries. And whether we’re applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we’re all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.
