Shell seeks to recruit a Global Consultant Network Optimization to join its Projects & Technology (Global Solutions Downstream) team in Rijswijk.

The role of the consultant is to lead projects in one or more of the below areas;
- Supply Chain Strategic Master Planning Studies: To help customers define an optimal asset structure,robust against a variety of possible future scenarios,
- Use of and maintenance support to GMOS/NetSim tool, which is an in-house developed optimisation program,
- Operational Distribution Planning: To ensure that products in the hydrocarbon supply chain are moved optimally from manufacturing sites to end-customers with the objective of maximizing the integrated margin,
- LNG Tactical, Operational Planning and Scheduling: To support a range of applications used in the LNG planning and scheduling process,
- Discrete Event Simulation for supporting the decision making process in design problems in a quantitative manner; valuable in the areas of system evaluation & debottlenecking, design optimisation, scenario(s) testing, risk evaluation, contract negotiations and working capital evaluation,
- Specific Project Support: The incumbent will provide modelling as well as supply chain business processes expertise in general to the hydrocarbon supply chain business improvement and change management projects.
You are expected continuously to seek improvements (Supply chain decision Support tools) to providing services to customers and develop sustainable customer and stakeholder relationships and initiatives that Contribute to business growth.
Delivery of top quartile Network master planning and Optimisation studies to Shell, joint ventures and external customers within agreed timing and budget.
Participate in business and operational reviews using these tools to provide fact-based analysis and to stimulate the thinking. Building of decision Support models to be used in economic evaluation studies and assisting customers during data gathering.
Understand how to solve business problems. Training of those customers opting for purchasing the decision Support tools. Eliminate, Simplify and Standardise and Automate processes where possible.
Requirements:
- Wide experience or exposure in one or more of the following business areas:
Supply & Distribution business (e.g. Supply planning in Oil/Gas/LNG/Chemicals, Product/Distribution/Supply economics), Trading or Operations. - Experience with modelling, planning and/or scheduling tools, Research and Development, providing technical service to customers
- Strategic-, tactical Supply Chain Planning & Development
- Supply Chain Economics and Analysis and Integration & Optimisation
- LNG planning & scheduling
Personal behaviour in accordance with Health, Safety, Group, regulatory and other appropriate standards.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position.
The position requires a person with background in economics, econometrics, operational research (optimisation, discrete event simulation) and with solid experience in IT knowledge (e.g. EXCEL, database technology, graphical software, statistical analysis).
A competitive remuneration package based on the prevailing conditions, policies and legislation in the Netherlands will be offered for this position. This position will not be offered on expatriate terms.
