Depending on professional background, experience and family situation, a competitive compensation and benefits package will be offered. The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term appointment of one year limited to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL). Any subsequent extension(s) are subject to terms of the Tribunal’s mandate and/or the availability of the funds. The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is an international inter-governmental organization with its own independent legal identity and not a UN organization. However, STL follows the UN common system for benefits and entitlements to its staff members. UN staff members may also serve on loan from their parent department/office, if selected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, Communications Analysis Team and within the limits of delegated authority, the Associate Database Administrator is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: Maintenance of the databases of the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP). Assist in the backup and disaster recovery procedures for all OTP databases. The secure and appropriate availability of information stored in OTP databases and the systems administration of all information technology used to host them. Provide database support for specialised applications utilised by the OTP. Troubleshoot issues with enterprise relational databases and solve problems when needed. Interact regularly with other units within the Special Tribunal’s Information Technology Support Section of the Registry. Perform other duties as requested.

Communication – Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Teamwork – Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: University degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. Professional certification on database administration or related fields of study would be an advantage.
Work Experience: At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in the design, development, implementation, tuning, troubleshooting and operation of enterprise relational databases in a national or international institution. Practical experience in large database administration would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge of the design and development of databases storing Arabic information is desirable. Possession of an advance university degree in a relevant field may be considered in substitution of years of experience.
Language: Arabic, English and French are the official languages of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English or French is required. Knowledge of the other language(s) is an asset.
